I agree they (EPA) can't be trusted, that's why it is important to head regulation off, but I prefer the high ground as the route to do so. Share the info, show that we have been fracking for years safely, etc. Don't make the "reasons" political is all I ask.

Stephen, your points would be valid if it weren't for the fact that the drivers of this congressional train, Waxman and Markey, are the same people who authored the nightmarish Cap and Trade bill last year which is based on the fraudulent "science" of anthropogenic global warming. They've proven they can't be trusted on issues of science and the environment where energy production is concerned, and both of them have major conflicts of interest given that they are heavily funded by Soros and his allies.

I also wouldn't use DDT as an example. Banning DDT was a terrible mistake which has caused the deaths of millions of people in the Third World based on what has been shown to be very faulty science.

Honestly, if there is nothing harmful about fracking than there is nothing to hide. The focus of the local legislature is all about this being a power grab, and nothing about responsibly managing our resources. I guess this was the same argument made to keep DDT and asbestos, and that is what scares me. If fracking is 100% safe, people won't believe it with these types of arguments - less politics and more numbers please. I too want the Haynesville Shale to drive the state's economic engine; don't kill the golden goose by obfuscating.
