Energy Independence? It’s Doable.

My response to the naysayers that say America cannot become energy independent is summed up in the following quote:

“Everyone is allowed their own opinion but not their own facts.”

- Sen Daniel Patrick Moynihan.

America can be energy independent if we use our common sense. Please check out the link below which demonstrates the dynamics of how technology isallowing our country to increase our proven energy reserves exponentially. Gas and Oil drillers/producers have proven that we can drastically lessenour dependence on foreign countries for our energy. We need the federalgovernment to take steps to allow Americans to tap into our resources and topromote a comprehensive conservation program in our country.

Current federal law forbids energy companies from mining over 90% of proven reserves of oil, oil shale & natural gas in our country. By mining this energy in our country we could stop spending approximately $450 billion per year with other countries for our energy and keep these high paying jobs here in America. Sending these dollars overseas is hurting the economic future of our country and lowering the standard of living for future generations of Americans.

Has anybody ever read about Thorium energy? Thorium LFTRs (liquid floride thorium reactors) are similar to Uranium LWRs (light water reactors), except there is no chance or meltdown or a run-away chain reaction. Thorium is also 4 times less rare than Uranium in the earth's crust, is more energy dense, and is not suitable for nuclear weapons. Check it out.

Unfortunately, the goal is not to provide energy, but to make fuel scarce and expensive. Our policies are all about corruption and control, period.
