Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Teaming with Far Left-wing Think Tank?
A local announcement in Lafayette caught my eye yesterday…
Chamber Hosts Semi-Annual Breakfast Event
Business Over Breakfast will be held next Tuesday, June 21st. Rob Guidry, President and CEO of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce says the event will be conjuntion with UL Lafayette and the Center for American Progress. According to the Chamber they will, “ host an exploration of the new involvement in university research in support of the Gulf of Mexico economy.”
The Center for American Progress is a far left-wing group, funded by George Soros. This group pushes for higher taxes on Americans, and even worse from a Lafayette perspective, is one of the leading national voices AGAINST the Oil & Gas Industry.
Why would ANY pro-business organization in Louisiana want to be involved in any partnership with Center for American Progress?

Holy cow! The Lafayette Chamber is nuts. Surely, conservatives and TEA Partiers can organize against this. How about a well attended, noisy protest during the breakfast?
I guess its ok when the Koch brothers who represent the top 1% of America write policy though
Let’s have a specific example of the Kochs writing policy – and in
particular let’s see one where the Kochs have written policy which
negatively affected the economy of Louisiana or Lafayette.
According to Wikipedia:
David H. Koch was a Libertarian Vice-Presidential candidate in 1980 on a platform that advocated the abolition of Social Security, the FBI, the CIA, and public schools
To the extent the Kochs founded and fund Cato Institute and other organizations who espouse such beliefs as those noted above, I would submit that their policy beliefs are not entirely compatible with Louisiana’s or America’s interests, although I must confess to being somewhat interested in the concept of school choice.
1980 was 31 years ago. And abolition of Soviet-style failing public school in favor of a free-market educational system would be perhaps the single best driver of future economic growth this country could make use of – outside of privatizing Social Security and turning that capital loose into the productive economy.
Wikipedia is hardly a source to use as absolute “fact”.
CAP’s “news” arm, ThinkProgress, is led by a pro-Sharia Muslim.

We have a problem with university research in support of the Gulf economy?
In fact, if I not mistaken John Podesta is the fellow who runs the Center for American Progress, and he served as Chief of Staff with the last Administration to balance the budget instead of talking about it.
Sounds like just the kind of folks we could use around here, I think.
Podesta is a neo-communist hack doing the bidding of a Nazi collaborator and international criminal. If that’s the type you’d like to traffic with, then it says interesting things about you.
What does that have to do with supporting our Gulf economy or balancing the budget?!
Considering that the moratorium came about in large part due to the advocacy and influence of the Center For American Progress, inviting them down to talk about economic growth in Lafayette is a little like having Khalid Sheikh Mohammed up to New York to survey Ground Zero and asking his advice as to what should be built there.
