Alario’s Presence At Edwards Fundraiser Shows He’s Wrong For Senate President

Fellow Republicans and Conservatives:

It is widely known now in state politics that long time Edwin Edwards waterboy, and now “new Republican” John Alario (R-Westego), has his sights set on becoming Senate President in the State Legislature. Our state cannot afford that image.

From a news article earlier today:

After the news conference, Edwards was joined by some of his closest friends for a private dinner and roast. Roasters included state Sen. John Alario, R-Westwego, former Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Brown, and Buddy Leach, chairman of the Louisiana Democratic Party.

Notice one of the other roasters honoring EWE last night also served time in jail, former Insurance Commissioner Jim Brown.

Governor Jindal campaigned on a new day in Louisiana. He campaigned on reforming Baton Rouge and ridding state politics of the good ole boy, crony system.

If the Jindal Administration simply sits idle and allows John Alario to become Senate President this Fall, then all those campaign speeches were simply words. Our State Government is set up to where the Governor is extremely powerful and has great influence. Governor Jindal has already used that power several times. This will be an instance where his influence should be used to help us move past the days of Edwin Edwards, Bob Odom and John Alario running state politics.

Please contact your State Senator and ask them to stand up for helping Louisiana government progress and reform by NOT giving John Alario their vote this Fall.

Thank you.

Who do we want for Senate President? I’ve seen Donahue mentioned as a potential candidate. I hope AG Crowe is interested though. He’s my first choice

Alario’s presence at former Governor Edward’s fundraiser shows this is still a free country.  Get off your highhorse!

It’s not about high horses, it’s about standards. Do you have any?

      • MACK says:

Guys like you are what empowered Edwards in the first place.  He did such a bad job for the state and most are far too stupid to understand why.  You seem to fit the bill.  Our kids fisih school and take jobs in other states.  Need more evidence?

        • MacAoidh says:

It doesn’t sound like you fisihed school yourself.

Can you tell us exactly what those of us who are too stupid to understand why Edwards did such a bad job for the state are missing?

If you meant to respond to “Kwade’,” my apologies.

Wow, still ragging on Bob Odom. Frankly, if you had a PRINCIPLED republican instead of the Comedian of Agriculture, the position of Ag Commissioner would have been relegated to the 19th century where it belongs.

Which proves that once you get into office, “principles” get rejected in favor of power.

  5. [...] Apparently it won’t. Not unless the voters who got rid of the Democrats also insist that having done so actually means something. [...]
