When They Came

When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists, I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews, I remained silent; I wasn’t a Jew.

When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out.

                                                                                                                                Martin Niemoller (1945)

Martin Niemoller was a Protestant Pastor and social activist imprisoned in Dachau, the notorious Nazi concentration/death camp run while searching for their “Final Solution”. He survived. Millions of Jews weren’t so lucky. What’s happening between Cardinal designate Dolan and Barack Obama is similar. First, Obama alienated the Jews. Now it’s the Catholic Church.

This emperor’s been running amok in Washington D.C. far too long for people to not have noticed he wears no clothes of substance. Just because he has a diaphanous, or gauzy, linen covering the naked contempt he holds for the Constitution and Bill of Rights doesn’t mean he’s fully covered and hidden his self-possessed and self-defined right to ignore them at his pleasure. The glare of truth shows he’s got nothing of substance underneath.

Obamacare demands the Catholic Faith not only accept, endorse and subsidize contraception and abortion; it mandates they yield conscience to diktat by the state; meaning Obama and his flunky monkey, Kathleen Sibelius. He twitches and she jumps to assure his latest whim is accepted. It’s been seen the woman has no original ideas of her own; merely the rhetorical, teleprompted scripts handed her by her puppet-master.

The opposition to the dictates of the “Affordable Care Act” Obama rammed up America’s colonic discharge apparatus is growing hourly for the heavy handedness of the lie told Cardinal Designate Dolan in efforts to set aside dissent until it was too late.

Sorry Barry. The Cardinal-elect isn’t as stupid as you think he is. He’s not afraid of you either. You need Dolan’s people more than he’ll ever need you. If you were thinking Barry, that this opposition by the church would be counter-balanced by the women’s voter bloc, you’re more stupid than dumb.

You proved your acumen as a gambler when you said “don’t call my bluff Eric”, and stormed out of a meeting on budget matters. You’re obviously so inept in diplomacy, politics, providing a productive work  ethic with your “loyal” opposition and convincing people to see the logic of your illogical premises it’s to be pitied.  You don’t know spit about Poker as a game, as an avocation or as a primer used to develop strategy and understanding of what the stakes are in the game you allege yourself to be playing.

Obama’s employed people more adept than he at developing policy. He’s too self-possessed to recognize he must “listen” to their advice and stop listening to the voices in his head. He thinks he knows better than anybody what we want or need. He knows nothing on that matter. He knows only what his handlers; Engels and Marx told him in his favorite bedtime stories as a child: Das Capital and the Communist Manifesto.

Obama and Sibelius think to define what is religious and what isn’t. Catholic cathedrals obviously are religious. Catholic charities, and less recognizable operations made available to the public aren’t (so they say). Is this because there’s no altar, no baptismal font; no little toll-booth on the side of the main hall where you confess your sins and pay your toll at the rail by endless supplication to intermediary saints? What about missionaries?  These, dear Barry, are statements of a living, breathing faith being brought to the masses outside the shadow of a church’s spire.

People at these charities will pray for you, with you and minister to your sense of loss. Just because they don’t wear cassocks and that helmet some of the nuns wear doesn’t make the doctrine and beliefs less viable for your efforts to believe in some higher power.

It’s real. It lives. It’s someplace you need to keep your hypocrisy away from with your self-serving lies and pandering.

Thanks for listening.
