Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) may have just received the most unlikely endorsement in his quest to unseat Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) in a December run-off election.
Cassidy is garnering support from the cannabis crowd via the Louisiana Cannabis Industry Association solely because Landrieu said in a recent debate that she is against the use of medical marijuana, according to Spokesman Jesse McCormick in an interview with WWL Radio. Cassidy, a doctor, on the other hand, said he was open to the idea.
“There’s certain times, particularly when somebody’s suffering from cancer, or whatever, they’re suffering from extreme nausea and pain, that it’s a viable treatment option and he thinks it should be available,” said McCormick.
McCormick told WWL that he is looking forward to seeing how the Republican-controlled US House and Senate handle the issue of medical marijuana and marijuana reform in general.
