Big Solar Brings In ‘Tea Party Activist’ To Shill For Their Welfare

The solar industry is stopping at nothing to save their corporate welfare. They’re bringing in an out of state “tea party activist” to help persuade Republicans to keep the tax credits.

Arrived in our inbox today was this from the astroturf West Coast “conservative” organization Tell Utilities Solar won’t be Killed (TUSK):

Tea Party Leaders to Host Solar Press Conference

Tea Partiers speak out for solar property rights and competition in Louisiana

(Baton Rouge, LA)- Louisiana native and credentialed conservative Debbie Dooley will host a press conference in Baton Rouge on Wednesday, May 6 to defend solar rights in her home state. Dooley, founder of Conservatives for Energy Freedom and co-founder of the national Tea Party movement, will discuss the importance of solar choice and competition for Louisianans. The event will take place at 1:00 pm in the Capitol Room of the Hilton Baton Rouge.

Across the country, monopoly utilities like Entergy are engaged in a calculated attack on rooftop solar. They want to eliminate the solar industry to wipe out competition. In Louisiana, the utilities are attacking fundamental solar policies like net metering, a fair billing mechanism that allows Louisianans to power their own homes. Later this year, the Louisiana Public Service Commission will decide whether or not to allow the continuation of net metering and self-generation, a fundamental property right. During Wednesday’s event, Dooley will raise awareness of the utilities’ calculated attacks and discuss how Louisianans can protect their solar property rights.

“Utility executives are hard at work trying to undermine competition from rooftop solar and deny consumers the ability to choose for themselves whether or not to produce their own power,” said Dooley. “Louisianans deserve better than that.”

Conservatives nationwide are rejecting discriminatory taxes, regulations, and other monopoly utility tactics as contrary to free market principles. In a letter to Louisiana legislators last week, Barry Goldwater Jr., Chairman of Tell Utilities Solar won’t be Killed (TUSK), wrote “Louisiana policymakers should be wary of attempts to stifle a growing industry that employs more than 173,000 Americans across the country and 1400 in Louisiana, and gives consumers the ability to produce their own power.” He also underscored the national utility playbook meant to stifle the solar industry that is now active in Louisiana.
