VIDEO: John Kennedy’s Earned-Media Tour De Force

We’re not sure what you’ve been up to today, but we can say that most of you have not been as busy as state treasurer John Kennedy has been.

And we know this because we can see video evidence of it.

Because last night before Gov. John Bel Edwards went on TV to demand higher taxes or else all the college football in the state (other than perhaps at Tulane) would be a gone pecan, Kennedy was on WWL-TV to discuss his impressions of what Edwards would say and why there was a lot better approach he should consider…

Then Kennedy got in the car and went to Shreveport, where this morning he appeared on Fox 33-TV to discuss the state’s budget and Edwards’ address. While that video isn’t embeddable, if you click the link you’ll get a kick out of the part where Kennedy actually apologizes to the people of Louisiana for Edwards’ having made those reckless statements about TOPS and college football.

Which was a brilliant political volley. It was almost a “bless his heart” to Edwards and a dismissive shot across his bow.

Kennedy making the rounds on the tube isn’t a surprise. He is, after all, running for the Senate. But he’s also Louisiana’s most media-savvy politician and he knows how to find cameras and microphones, so if Edwards is going to make headlines by scaring people in order to build support for tax increases you can bet Kennedy will outdo him with “bless his heart” critiques of Edwards and his governing acumen.
