BREAKING: Louisiana Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Shot And Killed Following Confrontation

A Louisiana Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputy was shot and later died after a confrontation with a man on a street known for high-crime.

While patrolling on a high-crime street in Jefferson Parish, Deputy David F. Michel Jr. when he got into a confrontation with a man, according to CNN.

Deputy David F. Michel Jr. was working for a street-crime unit when he was shot, sheriff’s spokesman John Fortunato said.

Michel stopped a man on the street in a high-crime area about 12:20 p.m. and the two got into a scuffle, Fortunato said.

A witness said the suspect pulled a handgun from his waistband and shot at the deputy multiple times including when he was on the ground, Fortunato said.

Michael was ultimately transported to University Hospital of New Orleans where he later died. One suspect has been arrested with Michael’s murder.
