Mike Rowe stops in for a Prager University video – these things are starting to draw some big-name lecturers, aren’t they? – to address the high school and college graduates with some great advice.
Namely, to ignore the bad advice everyone else is giving them about how they should “follow your dreams” or “do what you’re passionate about.”
Rowe says passion is for hobbies, not for making a living. He says what’s important is to follow the opportunities where they exist and to match your aptitude and skills to those opportunities. You might be passionate about something, but that doesn’t mean you’re good at it. Look at American Idol, after all.
