From Nola.com:

A 2-year-old and two adults died after a police chase ended with a crash on Chef Menteur Highway in New Orleans East Wednesday afternoon (June 28), Louisiana State Police said.

The chase began about 2:30 p.m. in downtown New Orleans after state police noticed the car has a stolen license plate, said Melissa Matey, LSP spokeswoman.

Two people were thrown from the car the crash, including the 2-year-old. Both were killed, Matey said. The child was not in a child seat, she said.

A third person died by suicide following the crash, she said.

A large state police presence was on scene at Chef Menteur and Lonely Oak Drive. Chef Menteur was closed in both directions at the scene.

No word yet on what all let to the chase, except the car had a stolen license plate. Either the car itself was stolen or they stole a license plate from another vehicle.
