The Washington MedStar Hospital has issued an update on Representative Steve Scalise. Unfortunately, it is not the best of news:

WASHINGTON, D.C.— MedStar Washington Hospital Center provided the following update on the condition of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise:

“Congressman Steve Scalise has been readmitted to the Intensive Care Unit at MedStar Washington Hospital Center due to new concerns for infection. His condition is listed as serious. We will provide another update tomorrow, July 6.”

The risk of infection has been one of the hospital’s biggest concerns from the beginning, so this is an update that is expected, though very concerning.

Our prayers continue to remain with the Scalise family and we look forward to his safe recovery.
