UPDATE: Steve Scalise Discharged From Hospital

Some good news to report on the condition of Congressman Steve Scalise. According to Washington MedStar Hospital, Scalise has been discharged as a patient. Here’s their release:

Congressman Steve Scalise has made excellent progress in his recovery from a life-threatening gunshot wound six weeks ago.  Yesterday, he was discharged from MedStar Washington Hospital Center and is now beginning a period of intensive inpatient rehabilitation. He is in good spirits and is looking forward to his return to work once he completes rehabilitation. He and his family are grateful for the care he received from the trauma team as well as the other doctors, nurses, and staff of MedStar Washington Hospital Center. The family also appreciates the outpouring of prayers and support during this time.

Scalise has been in the hospital since the June shooting that left him in critical condition.

His recovery since the shooting has been a long one, as he was readmitted into the intensive care unit for another surgery this month to take care of an infection he had picked up.

But, being discharged and going through rehab means that the danger appears to be passed and Scalise will be working hard to return to work. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with him and his family.
