An Amber Alert was issued on Sunday after a San Antonio man killed his estranged wife and kidnapped his son. It began an ended in tragedy, with one silver lining. The kidnapping ended with the man killing himself and leaving the toddler alone, unharmed, in the car.

San Antonio police responded to a 911 call during a custody exchange on Sunday morning between Richard Concepcion, 37, and his 32-year-old wife, according to Police Chief William McManus. Multiple gun shots had been fired and heard by neighbors. McManus told reporters that the officers found Concepcion’s wife dead in the front door area of the house upon their arrival.

Police had responded multiple times to calls related to domestic disputes.
