Bill Cassidy Takes Credit For New Orleans City Council’s Dropping Of BDS Resolution

The New Orleans City Council has been (rightfully) hammered for passing a resolution that was written by anti-Israel BDS activists. If you believe the resolution’s author incoming Mayor Latoya Cantrell, she claims she did not know what the resolution actually meant.

Now the council is running away from the resolution. It seems that Cantrell and her friends don’t want to be perceived as anti-Semitic.

The decision of the council to abandon this resolution has drawn praise from U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy. Cassidy has even sent out a press release praising the decision of the council.

Here’s the release:

Last week, the New Orleans City Council passed a boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) resolution drafted by the Palestinian Solidarity Committee to discriminate against Israel. U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) condemned the measure, saying, “This measure is rooted in anti-Semitism and hatred of Israel. This measure stands in solidarity with a Palestinian government that routinely sponsors and encourages terrorism.”

Cassidy also said he “hope[d] the council recognizes their error and reverses this misguided decision.”

Now, according to a report, “City Council President Jason Williams and other council members say they will move to reconsider it at their next council meeting.”

The headline of the press release indicated that Senator Cassidy was taking credit for the council’s decision. With all due respect to Senator Cassidy, we are skeptical that he was responsible for it. What’s more likely is that the council was tired of taking fire on the issue so they’re going to throw the Palestinian Solidarity Committee.

Also, LaToya Cantrell is either biggest moron in American politics or she is lying when she says she did not know what BDS was. For starters, she could’ve Googled the name of the group responsible for the resolution to learn what they support. Also, the word “Palestinian” is also a clue to their intentions.

New Orleans is sure in the best of hands under LaToylet Cantrell….
