Early analysis of the Louisiana Lieutenant Governor’s Race

Posted on July 17th, 2010 by JMC Enterprises

The conventional wisdom is that Secretary of State Jay Dardenne is a shoo in for the Lt Governor’s race. We would like to test that assumption by examining the strengths/weaknesses of the major candidates running in this race and projecting their vote totals on a parish by parish basis to predict the overall primary results.

VIDEO – Fox & Friends Slams Obamoratorium

Posted on July 13th, 2010 by macaoidh

It’s beginning to appear as though the offshore drilling ban imposed by the Obama administration is gathering steam as a national news story, and it’s also beginning to appear as though the narrative coming out of at least some corners of the media holds that the moratorium was a bad idea. Consider this exchange on [...]

Daily Caller: Landrieu, Miss Piggy Lookalikes?

Posted on July 6th, 2010 by macaoidh

Yikes. The Daily Caller features Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) in its latest “Double-Take” installment, in which it matches politicians with “celebrity lookalikes.” And Landrieu is tagged with “Miss Piggy” of Jim Henson’s Muppet fame.

Oil Spill Reaches Washington

Posted on June 10th, 2010 by Michael Youngblood

Oil from the leaking Macondo site in the Gulf of Mexico has meandered up the Potomac and spilled over into the Senate chamber, as legislation intended to prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from regulating greenhouse emissions under authority of the Clean Air Act was defeated today.

Time for Another Royalty Sharing Battle

Posted on June 8th, 2010 by Nick

Back in 2005, I took interest in the new debate of Louisiana’s delegation pushing for our state to receive a greater share of offshore oil & gas royalties from production off our coast.  Several of my letters and columns were published in various newspapers across the state. As it was then, and currently stands for [...]

The O’Keefe Thing

Today was the disposition of the misdemeanor charge against conservative provocateur and filmmaker James O’Keefe and three of his associates arising out of a media stunt they attempted in Mary Landrieu’s New Orleans offices. O’Keefe agreed to plead guilty to entering a federal building on false pretenses. He’ll pay a $1,500 fine and do 100 [...]

A tale of two polls

Posted on May 7th, 2010 by JMC Enterprises

Recent polls released in Louisiana and in Florida not only confirm Louisiana’s current conservative mood, but also show that the poll lead that Florida’s party switching Governor currently has is built on a very weak foundation that will erode as Election Day gets closer.

New Poll: Vitter Still Clobbering Melancon

Posted on May 4th, 2010 by macaoidh

A new poll released yesterday by Southern Media & Opinion Research indicates that Democrat Charlie Melancon is making little headway in his attempts to unseat Sen. David Vitter. The poll, which asked a myriad of questions to 600 statewide voters April 19-23, was paid for by Baton Rouge businessman and conservative activist Lane Grigsby.
