GOP “Mediocracy” Aims At Holding True Talent Down

Posted on July 27th, 2010 by macaoidh

In all likelihood, the Republicans will retake the House in November. There are those who will say they won’t get the 39 seats they’ll need to make John Boehner the Speaker of the House, but don’t believe them. The GOP is ahead by 10 points on the generic Congressional ballot at present, which is a [...]

Hideous Economic News From Administration’s Friday Docu-Dump

Posted on July 26th, 2010 by macaoidh

The Heritage Foundation’s Morning Bell has the story of what can only be described as an alarming admission of failure by the Obama administration – which, to no surprise, was disclosed late Friday afternoon when nobody was watching.

Some Budget Numbers The Legacy Media Won’t Bother You With

Posted on July 22nd, 2010 by Mark Zelden

Michael Kinsley once famously said that the real scandals in Washington are those that are legal, not illegal. So much of the relentless growth of government has nothing to do with massive new unfunded entitlements (Obamacare) or new layers of regulation limiting economic growth (financial services “reform”) or even fighting the War on Terror (or [...]

Posted on July 11th, 2010 by macaoidh

The below list of mind-boggling atrocious economic statistics originally appeared at The Coto Report, and Doug Ross noted it in a post on Sunday cataloguing the frightening state of the U.S. economy (which is where we found it). It’s a list of 50 facts about the current state of the American economy. And if you [...]

Buh-Bye.

Posted on June 22nd, 2010 by Oscar

Word is that White House budget director Peter Oszag is gone by the end of next month. Whether he’s resigning or being fired like Stanley McChrystal is unknown. Orszag would be the first of President Obama’s cabinet to leave, though rumors of a Rahm Emanuel exit at the end of the year are widespread. The [...]

The Little Guy’s Fiscal Phobias

Posted on May 21st, 2010 by dan juneau

Consider the plight of the ordinary working-class Americans when they interface with fiscal issues today; it must be awfully scary to them. Not that long ago, working families placed their savings in banks and savings and loan companies literally in their neighborhoods. For the most part, those institutions kept the dollars in the community and [...]

The Sick Man Of America

Posted on May 20th, 2010 by Mark Zelden

Back in the malaise years of the 1970s, the United Kingdom was commonly referred to as “the sick man of Europe,” a mantle the Brits inherited from the Turks of some 100 years before. Most people tend to forget now after Margaret Thatcher’s revolutionary reforms just how poor Britain’s economic performance was relative to Europe [...]
