2010 Elections, 7/21 Version (It’s incumbent’s night for the Democrats)

Posted on July 20th, 2010 by JMC Enterprises

Primary and Filing Status Last night, Georgia conducted its party primaries.  Its incumbent Democrats were re-elected with varying percentages. At the top of the ticket, former governor Roy Barnes was one of several ex governors (the others are in California, Iowa, Maryland, and Oregon) who want their old job back. Democratic primary voters agreed, giving [...]

2010 Elections, 7/15 Version (Part II)

Posted on July 15th, 2010 by JMC Enterprises

Primary and Filing Status On the primary front, it has been relatively quiet this month. The Alabama runoff has been the only election held since June 22, and it provided yet another example of voters (in this case, in the Republican runoff for governor) choosing someone other than the preferred candidate of the local political [...]

2010 Elections, June 22 edition (South Carolina makes history)

Posted on June 22nd, 2010 by JMC Enterprises

Utah Primary, North Carolina/South Carolina Runoffs Tonight, history was made in South Carolina. For the GOP runoff for Governor, state representative Nikki Haley (who is of Indian descent) benefitted in the primary from a backlash against racial slurs used against her (she was referred to as a “rag head”), as well as unproven allegations that she was [...]

What did “Super Tuesday” tell us ?

Posted on June 9th, 2010 by JMC Enterprises

If there is one predominant theme from “Super Super Tuesday”, it’s that while incumbents are down, they’re certainly not out.

A bad day to be an incumbent

Posted on May 19th, 2010 by JMC Enterprises

Today was a bad day to be an incumbent or an “establishment” candidate. The bad news started yesterday, when the New York Times revealed that Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal (D-Connecticut) fabricated his Vietman experience in speeches with voters (in fact, he received multiple deferments). Suddenly an open seat race thought to be safe for the [...]

2010 Election, May 18 edition (“David vs Goliath” primaries)

Posted on May 17th, 2010 by JMC Enterprises

Tomorrow is primary day in Arkansas, Kentucky, Oregon, and Pennsylvania. Three of the states have significant intraparty primaries that feature an establishment candidate facing an insurgent candidate, and the outcomes of these races will be a good test of the depth of anti-incumbent sentiment:

Irritated Obama Heckled By His Own People

Posted on April 20th, 2010 by macaoidh

Maybe it’s us, but does this look like a man in control? President Barack Obama, descending into Los Angeles to speak at a fundraiser on behalf of endangered Sen. Barbara Boxer, was repeatedly heckled by gay activists who want the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy repealed.
