While hiding behind highly misleading statements about increased domestic offshore exploration for oil, the Obama administration announced today that new CAFÉ (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards originally intended for implementation in 2020, accompanied by mandated reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, will be imposed on auto manufacturers beginning in 2012 and ramping up to 2016.

This one is so off-the-wall stupid we’re struggling to believe it’s even possible. But apparently it’s legitimate – the Obama administration could be on the verge of imposing a ban of some sort on recreational fishing. That’s correct. Fishing.

Today, the news hit that Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has filed a petition with the Environmental Protection Agency challenging its December ruling that “greenhouse gases,” most notably carbon dioxide, represent a threat to humans and thus were subject to regulation under the Clean Air Act.
