2011 A Very Interesting Year So Far

This is so discouraging. I do not believe that people will pay attention to what is happening to the aquifers in the state, until they are dry. The only people that seem to really be doing anything are the the Vermilion Parish School Board, Senator Fred Mills, Save Lake Peigneur people, Warren Perrin has been working on this for years. As far as the Chicot aquifer, to stop AGL Resources from using water from the Chicot aquifer for their expansion would be something that we do not have to let happen. If only more of our officials would get involved.

Jan, 2011 Richard Hyde, AGL Resources, spoke at Abbeville Rotary Club about Jefferson Island Storage & Hub salt dome expansion. Water use different than what the company said in 2007. Jefferson Island Storage & Hub, LLC 2009 OPERATING AGREEMENT with Louisiana 3.4 …. Jefferson Island shall have the right to drill for and extract water as may be necessary, incidental, or desirable for the Permitted Purposes, including, without limitation,……Regardless of what AGL Resources says, this is their Operating Agreement with Louisiana.

I started emailing everyone I could think of, including State officials, local officials, local government, TV stations, and newspapers, local and national.

Feb, 2011 I was interviewed on TV on a Monday about AGL Resources expansion at JISH. On Tuesday, lady from Lake Peigneur spoke about expansion. TV station was visited on Wednesday by person with a great deal of influence, and stopped any more shows criticizing the expansion.

March, 2011 Received email from Gary Hanson, LSU Shreveport, “The public has only recently become aware of the developing shortage of groundwater throughout the state, across the country & around the world”.

May, 2011 I spoke before the DEQ Senate Environmental Committee in Baton Rouge.

Spoke with Abbeville Mayor Mark Piazza. Mayor Piazza was not knowledge about expansion, despite my emails. Have emailed every mayor in Vermilion Parish. Kaplan mayor responded & is concerned.

June, 2011 Spoke before Vermilion Parish Police Jury Committee meeting. A few VPPJ jurors were interested enough to ask me questions. Most of my emails are blocked by the VPPJ at least I was able to hand out some information. The VPPJ seemed uninterested.

Larry Sides, Sides & Associates, Lafayette, the PR man for AGL Resources, left message on my answering machine and wanted me to meet with Richard Hyde, AGL Resources Company, “one on one” to answer my questions. I did not return his call.

Larry Sides, Sides & Associates, is not a registered lobbyist. A state representative told me Mr. Sides is a lobbyist. Legislative Branch Lobbying Laws A. Purpose (LSA-R.S. 24:50)! Provide public disclosure of the identity of persons who attempt to influence legislative actions and the expenditures made by those persons,

My Opinion piece “We should take care of Louisiana aquifers” on May 30, 2011 ran in Opelousas LA News, Daily Advertiser, The News Star, Hattiesburg American, Daily World, and The Town Talk. Not run in local newspaper. I then decided to send chief officer of local newspaper an email; I was told that if I did that I was “done as far as getting in the XXXX or any other paper other than a XXXX newspaper”.

July, 2011 Appointment with Rep. Bob Hensgens to discuss use of Chicot aquifer for JISH expansion was not knowledge about expansion, despite my emails.

Invited to Living Legends for Maria Placer to give out information about AGL Resources expansion.

Met with Save Lake Peigneur group.

Called Senator Jonathan Perry four times for appointment. Charlene Jannise, from Gueydan, & I finally met with Senator Perry. Neither Hensgens nor Perry seemed to be knowledgeable about the expansion and use of the Chicot aquifer, despite emails.

August, 2011 Senate Environmental Quality & House Natural Resources & Environment Committee’s Meeting in New Iberia. John Lovelace, USGS, gave presentation in support of AGL Resources’ expansion. John Lovelace returned to New Iberia to speak to Optimist Club.

DNR Declares Ground Water Emergency in Parts of Southern Caddo Parish.

September, 2011 Email from DOTD, questioned about a partnership with USGS to study water, “we stopped reporting data” in 2010 when Office of Conservation took over. Last study 8 years ago.

October, 2011 Meeting USGS office, Baton Rouge, with George Arcement, USGS, and John Lovelace, USGS. USGS Director Maria McNutt replied to my email sent in August about Mr. Lovelace, stated “it does not appear that the USGS would have the information to comment on this project one way or another”.

Email from Johnny Duplantis, US Corp of Engineers, when emailed about JISH dredging statement “mentioned that briefing was misleading and should been titled/worded differently. It was confusing when I (J. Duplantis) first read it and I (J. Duplantis) contacted JISH immediately for answers”.

The Vermilion Parish School Board unanimously passed a resolution (10/20/2011) opposing AGL Resources expanding its natural gas storage facility at Lake Peigneur.
November, 2011, DNR Office of Conservation, public meeting at LSUAg Center, Crowley to help form Louisiana comprehensive water plan. Chicot aquifer low in Crowley area. Meetings all over state were held to receive public input. Senator Perry had J-Turn meeting in Maurice on same date. Rep. Bob Hensgens did not attend meeting in Crowley.

Vermilion Parish Police Jury received a $295,000 Federal grant to pay for an 18-month comprehensive study for Vermilion Parish. Sides and Associates, (Larry Sides), engineering companies, ATCS of VA, and Sellers & Associates are hired by the Police Jury to do the study.

Why do I mention the $295,000 Federal grant? We need funds for an Environmental Statement to study the effects of the withdrawal from our only fresh water source, the Chicot aquifer, for the AGL Resources expansion of JISH.

So glad that the DNR Office of Conservation realizes we have a problem with the State aquifers and are working toward a Louisiana Comprehension water plan. Due to the problems with the State aquifers there will be meetings all over the State.

Senator Fred Mills has been working to help protect the Chicot aquifer and has attended many meetings. Steve Langlinais, engineer from Vermilion Parish, Nara Crowley, with her group, Save Lake Peigneur, Attorney, Warren Perrin, Acadian Museum of Erath and Lafayette attorney and Charlene Jannise of Gueydan have worked hard to get this information out. Wayne Touchet, VPPJ has attended some meetings.

Met Cheryl Perret, wife of Louis Perret, Lafayette Clerk of Court, who has recently realized the importance of the aquifers in the state.

The Vermilion Parish School Board is opposing AGL Resources expanding its natural gas storage facility at Lake Peigneur to protect our only fresh water source, the Chicot aquifer.

There are many others who realize the importance of protecting our only fresh water source.

We need to contact our officials to encourage them to pay attention to our most important resource, our water. It is time to realize there is a problem with State aquifers and this drought.

Jeremy, I wish I had seen this quoted article much earlier. I have felt the same way for some time about the electorate. Are we any wiser? Are the Republicans fixated on a Superman candidate? Anyone Republican candidate can govern better than Obama, but have we gone past the tipping point when 50% are tax-takers. Its scary.

The Barnum Effect

Greensburg, LA.- The phenomenon of people believing what they want to believe while ignoring facts and inaccuracies has been called the Barnum Effect.

Last month, the St. Helena Parish Police Jury refused to even consider a formal request made on behalf of a citizen to investigate blatant and obvious violations of ParishOrdinance Code 236 by Betty’s Satellite, Inc. owned by a Ms. Alicia Brown Butler. The Corporations is located in a residential neighborhood in Baton Rouge, LA. Betty’sSatellite, Inc. is owned and 100 Percent operated by Ms. Alicia Brown Bulter who is doing business in St. Helena as the Mansion Gentlemen’s Club.

These alleged violations concerned the jury enough that in November 2010, that very same say, a motion to was made to investigate and hold hearings on the matter. The motion passed almost unanimously with the exception of a no vote from one juror.President Frank Johnson, the very same juror who voted not to investigate the allegations made against the Mansion, at the very same meeting openly made the commitment to “vote to shut down the business establishment if violations of the Code were found. Yet he voted against the opportunity to make that determination. This action earned the jurythe ab ility to give the appearance to the citizens and the general public they were committed to following Parish Code and would not tolerate criminal activity.

Amazingly, only two weeks at their next jury meeting, the jury arbitrarily and capriciously passed another motion, which was not requested by a citizen or any other interested party, to rescind the investigation and hearings of the business establishment. Keeping his voting record consistent on this issue, President Johnson voted infavor of this motion. .

Apparently President Johnson is committed to shutting down lawfully operated businesses that have operated in St. Helena Parish for eleven years, but at the same time he is opposed to investigatinga businessestablishment of which he is directly aware is violating the exact Code enacted to shutter Oak Ridge Lounge.. President Johnson is playing political games and is courting disaster should he continue. Exposing him to prosecution of malfeasance in office.

Oak Ridge Loungewas granted a permanent injunction against enforcement of Ordinance 236 by both a District Court and Federal Courts. This injunctiongranted Oak Ridge Lounge immunity from the provisions of Ordinance 236. They enjoy this immunity anda “grandfather clause” affirmed by theFederal Courts.Oak Ridge has survived despite having to literally “City Hall” for their entire existence.

The ruling by the United States District Court of the Middle District of Louisiana, in March 2005 was observant enough to note, “The Parish had no empirical link to reality”. The same ruling also stated, “If Oak Ridge Lounge is not successful in obtaining this injunction against the enforcement of Ordinance 236, Ira and Bobby Vaughn will be subject to losing their two liquor licensesissued by the St. Helena Parish Police Jury. They also can be fined $500 and imprisoned for thirty days per violation of Ordinance 236.”Since 2001, President Johnson has been the head cheerleader of eliminating Oak Ridge Lodge and also assisted other members of the jury to squander hundreds of thousands of tax payer dollars in legal fees to have the ability to enforce Ordinance 236 against the Oak Ridge Lounge, and was denied on multiple occasions.
To circumvent the Federal Judicial process, President Johnson is obviously attempting to close the business through the use of financial terrorism. Using his power to create unfair and illegal opportunities in an attempt to allow businesses from out of the Parish operated illegally and without the regulatory burden that has plagued Oak Ridge for the past 11 years. President oJNow uses to even investigate the obvious violations ofOrdinance 236 by a business establishment. His actions and intentions were clearly personal and political. It was an attack against one business and had nothing to do with any ideological moral or technicalbelief that Ordinance 236 would benefit the citizens of the parish.
The record is clear who is playing the ring leader in this three ring circus. We encourage the owners of Oak Ridge Lounge and the citizens of St. Helena Parish to continue to bringing the request to the jury to formally investigate the Mansionand demand the jury to enforce laws they are legally mandated to do.

The request and expectation is simple- all parish officials should consistently enforce the Parish Code of Ordinances for all business establishments which will no doubt encourage the commerce environment of the parish as a whole, rather than allowing elected officials to take actions which are best for his own personal financial incentives.

also, i was reviewing the long form cert for BHO…if u look at the registrar’s stamp on the short form versus the long for….use the highlight tool and highlight the first vletter in each line to form a rectangle around those three letters. you will immediately notice the alignment is inconsistent between the forms. would that also lead someone to suspect it’s a fraud.

however, most of the dates used on the form are date stamps. i have used many types of these, especially early in my military career. i have used ones ones where the “day” numbers are larger than the “month” and “year”. merely basing the font size of the day in the date as fraud does not support fraud.

strong work on the rest. i love to discredit his birth, but we need UNDENIABLE PROOF. we need to make it happen!
