The Civilizational Conflict Continues

On Friday, yet another jihadist attack took place in the United States. Once again, this one was fatal.

The latest episode in the ongoing campaign of atrocities and murder – over 14,000 attacks by jihadists since September 11, 2001 worldwide – took place at Binghamton University in New York. A 47-year old graduate student, Abdulsalam Al-Zahrani, took out a kitchen knife with a six-inch blade and repeatedly stabbed 77-year old anthropology professor Richard T. Antoun in the latter’s Science I building office. Antoun was rushed to the hospital but died later that day.

Antoun, who was a convert to Judaism by marriage, had written several books involving Muslims and the interaction between cultures. Perhaps his most noted work is Understanding Fundamentalism: Christian, Islamic and Jewish Movements, published in 2001 with a revised edition in 2006. Antoun’s anthropological work largely centered on observing Jordanian tribesmen as they emigrated to Europe and North America; his life story was an interesting one as he came from a wide variety of religious ancestry, including a Muslim grandfather.

Al-Zaharani is a Saudi and a Wahhabi Muslim, and it appears Antoun was supervising Al-Zaharani’s doctoral dissertation. One smoking gun as to the assailant’s motive is a message board posting attributed his university account replying to an Arab-language account of an Israeli anti-Arab conference.

The message reads as follows:

“I completly agree … even if these statements are made by the ugliest soul on earth, the soul of a quintessential sick animal-without-a-tail israeli orientalist … why should we be upset … we are people ruled by the most corrupted blood-sucking, sadomasachistic (sadist with us and masachist with their overseas lords), demented, ignorant and incapable gangs, deprived in body and mind, deformed in consciousness (we must erase this word from the Arabic dictionary … it is superfluous without a referent in the real world … our world).”

And more…

Now I have to say something to this idiot who said the Arabs are the grossest fuilure in the history of human beings. No failure equals the Israeli.your were f. up under a tolitarian rule in europe and the rule failed and you want to replicate it!!! how stupid is this? what failure is this? Einstein himself refused to join you doomed enterprience and Freud himself thought that you were theafts sealing even the moral innovatons of other people even the hummus you have stolen, the land, the water, resources of Palistine.you are a bunch of psychopath theaves and murdurers…everyone is against you because of your unethical immoral criminal actions.you killed children!!! what else you want to be convinced that you are shame of humanity.

But the Broome County district attorney’s office says there is “no indication of religious or ethnic motivation” for the attack. It’s difficult to accept such a statement one day after the murder; one supposes Al-Zaharani didn’t stab his professor four times in the lung because he was agitated about the slow legislative progress of Obamacare or because the Giants aren’t in first place in the NFC East.

This kind of willful negligence (one way to put it) or dhimmi apologism for Muslim jihad on the part of responsible officials in law enforcement, politics or the media seems absolutely epidemic in modern times. It’s less than a month since the Fort Hood murders, for example, and this week a key Muslim Brotherhood figure linked with terror financier and former University of South Florida professor Sami al-Arian, a man named Louay Safi, was brought in to lecture Fort Hood troops set for deployment to Afghanistan.

And further, details continue to pour out about a very suspicious incident on an AirTran flight from Atlanta to Houston last month (Nov. 17). The incident, involving some dozen or so men dressed in Muslim attire causing a commotion on the flight, forcing it to return to the gate and discharge crew and passengers before taking back off, caused a minor media stir when it first happened. It was largely dismissed as a misunderstanding, at least in the initial Atlanta Journal-Constitution report covering the incident, wherein one passenger reported that a Muslim man was taken off the plane because he didn’t understand airline rules regarding electronic devices.

But the story has expanded far beyond that relatively innocuous report. An e-mail circulating from a passenger reportedly on the flight told a considerably different story:

One week ago, I went to Ohio on business and to see my father. On Tuesday, November the 17th, I returned home. If you read the papers the 18th you may have seen a blurb where a AirTran flight was cancelled from Atlanta to Houston due to a man who refused to get off of his cell phone before takeoff. It was on Fox.

This was NOT what happened.

I was in 1st class coming home. 11 Muslim men got on the plane in full attire. 2 sat in 1st class and the rest peppered themselves throughout the plane all the way to the back. As the plane taxied to the runway the stewardesses gave the safety spiel we are all so familiar with. At that time, one of the men got on his cell and called one of his companions in the back and proceeded to talk on the phone in Arabic very loudly and very aggressively. This took the 1st stewardess out of the picture for she repeatedly told the man that cell phones were not permitted at the time. He ignored her as if she was not there.

The 2nd man who answered the phone did the same and this took out the 2nd stewardess. In the back of the plane at this time, 2 younger Muslims, one in the back, isle, and one in front of him, window, began to show footage of a porno they had taped the night before, and were very loud about it. Now….they are only permitted to do this prior to Jihad. If a Muslim man goes into a strip club, he has to view the woman via mirror with his back to her. (don’t ask me….I don’t make the rules, but I’ve studied). The 3rd stewardess informed them that they were not to have electronic devices on at this time. To which one of the men said “shut up infidel dog!” She went to take the camcorder and he began to scream in her face in Arabic. At that exact moment, all 11 of them got up and started to walk the cabin. This is where I had had enough! I got up and started to the back where I heard a voice behind me from another Texan twice my size say “I got your back.” I grabbed the man who had been on the phone by the arm and said “you WILL go sit down or you Will be thrown from this plane!” As I “led” him around me to take his seat, the fellow Texan grabbed him by the back of his neck and his waist and headed out with him. I then grabbed the 2nd man and said, “You WILL do the same!” He protested but adrenaline was flowing now and he was going to go. As I escorted him forward the plane doors open and 3 TSA agents and 4 police officers entered. Me and my new Texan friend were told to cease and desist for they had this under control. I was happy to oblige actually. There was some commotion in the back, but within moments, all 11 were escorted off the plane. They then unloaded their luggage.

We talked about the occurrence and were in disbelief that it had happen, when suddenly, the door open again and on walked all 11!! Stone faced, eyes front and robotic (the only way I can describe it). The stewardess from the back had been in tears and when she saw this, she was having NONE of it! Being that I was up front, I heard and saw the whole ordeal. She told the TSA agent there was NO WAY she was staying on the plane with these men. The agent told her they had searched them and were going to go through their luggage with a fine tooth comb and that they were allowed to proceed to Houston. The captain and co-captain came out and told the agent “we and our crew will not fly this plane!” After a word or two, the entire crew, luggage in tow, left the plane. 5 minutes later, the cabin door opened again and a whole new crew walked on.

Again…..this is where I had had enough!!! I got up and asked “What the hell is going on!?!?” I was told to take my seat. They were sorry for the delay and I would be home shortly. I said “I’m getting off this plane”. The stewardess sternly told me that she could not allow me to get off. (now I’m mad!) I said “I am a grown man who bought this ticket, who’s time is mine with a family at home and I am going through that door, or I’m going through that door with you under my arm!! But I am going through that door!!” And I heard a voice behind me say “so am I”. Then everyone behind us started to get up and say the same. Within 2 minutes, I was walking off that plane where I was met with more agents who asked me to write a statement. I had 5 hours to kill at this point so why the hell not. Due to the amount of people who got off that flight, it was cancelled. I was supposed to be in Houston at 6pm. I got here at 12:30am.

Look up the date. Flight 297 Atlanta to Houston.

If this wasn’t a dry run, I don’t know what one is. They wanted to see how TSA would handle it, how the crew would handle it, and how the passengers would handle it.

I’m telling this to you because I want you to know….
The threat is real. I saw it with my own eyes….

-Tedd

It must be said that the e-mail has generated a good bit of controversy. The AJC issued a story today in which it is denied by AirTran that “Tedd,” whose last name is Petruna, was on Flight 297 from Atlanta to Houston that day because the airline says he missed his connecting flight from Toledo-Akron to Atlanta.

But Petruna’s account, while it may have been discredited, does raise some issues about what happened on Flight 297. Particularly given another account of what happened on the flight, this one by Dr. Keith A Robinson, Corps Commander of the Houston Regional Community Chaplains’ Corps. Robinson says he missed his initial flight but was on the scene attempting to catch it the second time around when Flight 297 came back to the gate, and his account indicates much more than the AJC reports. Robinson claims the flight crew departed the flight and TSA officials took the entire party of Muslims off the flight for questioning. He also says, as does the AJC report, that a dozen or so passengers refused to fly with the Muslims after whatever it was they saw happen and deplaned at the gate to rebook on another flight. He also claims that when he boarded the plane a palpable sense of danger pervaded the passenger area, with the replaned Muslims behaving strangely throughout though not in a manner suggestive of any imminent threat.

Another account of the events on Flight 297 was posted at the Canada Free Press which largely corroborates the statements of Petruna and Robinson and indicates that the incident had all the hallmarks of a “dry run” of a terrorist takeover of a flight – or at least an attempt to duplicate the “flying imams” episode in 2006 which ended up netting the perpetrators of that fiasco a rather fat airline settlement upon suing. The CFP piece, written by Doug Hagmann, is an extremely detailed and frightening account of the incident; Hagmann claims seven different sources for the piece, including a member of the flight crew but NOT including Petruna.

The reader is invited to view all the sources surrounding Flight 297 and make an independent determination of the truth as to the severity of the incident and whether AirTran’s response to it is based in the facts of the case or a determination that lawsuits and bad publicity are more damaging to business than the possiblity of 9/11-style hijackings aboard their planes. The point of the incident’s inclusion here is to indicate that there are suspicious incidents all around us in the midst of what is clearly a continuing war against the United States being waged by the jihadist movement and those who are charged with protecting the public safety simply aren’t inspiring much confidence among the potential victims of jihad within our borders.

And that perceived inattention and timidity is as frightening as the jihad itself, because if Fort Hood and Binghamton incidents persist, and/or if a Flight 297 incident flares up into a 9/11-style attack, what is likely to happen is a complete breakdown of civility toward Muslims of all kinds in America. People who don’t think government can or will help them will take to helping themselves, and communities which interpret a mortal threat and don’t think law enforcement will take the steps to deal with it will act in their own perceived self-defense. This can manifest itself in vigilance, rudeness or pitchforks and torches, but one thing is for certain – Muslims who came to America to get away from the violence, intolerance and tyranny of their home or ancestral countries and don’t share a jihadist mindset are going to become victims of the broad-brush approach of the mob.

It’s a very disconcerting situation, and there doesn’t seem an end in sight. Worse, there is no apparent strategy in place to deal with a civilizational threat beyond just muddling through and hoping it goes away.
