Ted Cruz won big over David Dewhurst last night in Texas, GOP Senate primary. It was a signal that for all the obituaries written about the Tea Party that movement hasn’t gone anywhere.
Dewhurst isn’t the worst politician in the Republican Party; he’s more like a John Boehner than an Arlen Specter. And the voters in that state decided they were looking for somebody a little less enamored with the trappings of power. So Cruz, who’s a cross between Marco Rubio and Mike Lee, rode a wave to the nomination. Cruz is a virtual shoo-in against Democrat Paul Sadler, a trial lawyer, former state legislator and wind-energy advocate, in this fall’s general election.
This is what Texas is getting in Cruz. From FreedomWorks’ FreePAC confab last week…
