Cedric Richmond ‘May Just Have To Kick Somebody’s Ass’ If An Anti-Cop Painting Is Removed From Capitol Hill

Cedric Richmond isn’t much of a fan of the police. The Black Caucus Chairman and Louisiana Congressman threatened anyone who would remove a painting depicting police as pigs who shoot unarmed black men.

Richmond even said he would “kick somebody’s ass” if Republicans kept taking the painting down.

From The Blaze:

The chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus said Tuesday those who’re against the repeated removal of a controversial painting on Capitol Hill depicting police officers as pigs may have to get physical with offenders.

“We may just have to kick somebody’s ass and stop them,” Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.), chairman of the CBC, told Politico.

Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter (Calif.) on Friday unscrewed and took down the painting of a confrontation between black protesters and police and delivered it to the office of Rep. Lacy Clay (D-Mo.). The painting is by a recent high school graduate and Clay constituent who won the Democrat’s annual congressional art competition last year.

Richmond has many police officers and their families in his district. Someone needs to ask Richmond if this painting reflects his views towards police officers. If it doesn’t reflect his views of the police, why is this painting appropriate to hang in Capital Hill? Should a white painter be able to paint a KKK rally or the Confederate army?

Let’s also ask what exactly Cedric Richmond and the Congressional Black Caucus have actually done about criminal justice reform and race relations? Have they actually done anything to fix either issue or are they just grandstanding as they usually do?

Finally, the next time the painting is taken down, the Congressman should bring this painting to Cedric Richmond’s office and dare him to make good on his threats. We’ll see if Cedric is just running his mouth, as usual.
