Stagni Opponent Disqualified Over A Job At A Sno-Ball Stand

Perhaps the worst member – or at least the worst so-called Republican member – of the Louisiana House of Representatives is Joe Stagni, a Republican from Kenner who can’t help himself but vote in favor of every sexual perversion, anatomical mutilation and effort to groom children for bizarre lifestyles he can. We’ve chronicled Stagni’s strange exploits multiple times here at The Hayride, with the latest coming in a post by Nathan Koenig last week

Rep. Stagni has been one of the most problematic RINO Republicans in the statehouse for the past few years. Here is a list of some of his worst votes and decisions as an elected official: -Voted NO  for ending child mutilation (transsexuals) surgeries in Louisiana (HB 638, 2023) -Voted NO for Constitutional carry (SB 118, 2021) -Voted NO for banning Transsexuals competing in Women’s sports (SB 156, 2021) -Voted NO for allowing students to sue schools for vaccine requirements (HB 531, 2022) -Voted NO for teachers about not referring to any person by certain pronouns if contrary to the employee’s religious or moral convictions  (HB 81, 2023). -Voted YES for the disastrous 2023 budgetary bill that busted the fiscally responsible “Spending Cap” -Sided with RINOs and Democrats to allow RINO Clay Schexnayder to become House Speaker In fact, Stagni’s failure to protect women’s sports (2021) led the Home Defense Foundation (HDF) to start a recall effort against him. This recall effort caused Stagni to change his vote the next year when the Legislature re-introduced a similar bill in 2022. RINO Joe has been one of the worst voting records of any Republicans in the Louisiana Legislature—even worse than some Democrats. This result should come to no surprise considering Stagni was once a Democrat before running for office.

As Koenig also noted, Stagni punctuated his lousy voting record by skipping the veto override session this spring which resulted in the override of Gov. John Bel Edwards’ veto of the pediatric sex-change bill. His absence didn’t matter on that vote, but it did make the difference in not having 70 House votes to override vetoes on several other conservative bills. Maybe those would have failed in the Senate but it doesn’t matter – Stagni didn’t do his part.

He needs to be run out of the legislature.

But one of his opponents was just disqualified – over a job at a sno-ball stand when she was 16.

Amanda Eberts, a Turning Point USA coordinator who had impressed many despite being just 20 years old, had jumped into the race as a conservative alternative to Stagni. But the incumbent and his political team successfully knocked her out of the race because she didn’t file a tax return from a summer job at a sno-ball stand when she was 16, four years ago.

This is a good lesson for anybody interested in running for office, especially against an incumbent and especially against a political machine like the one in Jefferson Parish Stagni is affiliated with. He managed to survive a scandal which was fairly public several years ago when he texted pictures of himself in his underwear to an employee of the city of Kenner, and even failed up into the legislature. You can’t run against somebody protected like that unless you have everything buttoned up tight, and Eberts will almost certainly take this to heart and come back better prepared in a future cycle.

But this doesn’t mean Stagni is out of the woods. He has another challenger and he could still lose.

Mike Sigur is a 60-year resident of Kenner. A longtime law enforcement officer and retired small business owner, Sigur served two terms on the Kenner City Council and one year as acting mayor. He’s a social conservative and a law-and-order type, and he’s got governmental and private sector experience. He’s qualified for the job, has won elections before, and most importantly he’s not Joe Stagni.

So here at The Hayride, we’re enthusiastic in our support of Mike Sigur for a change in District 92.
