A veteran GOP political consultant is optimistic about the elections, and here's why...
Rick Shaftan is one of our go-to consultants on matters political, as he's been around for a long time and wins his share of races despite taking on some long-shot assignments. Rick knows the lay of the land as well as anybody, so when he thinks everything will turn out just fine in November for President Trump and the GOP, we'll listen.
And he does. Here's what Rick is saying...
People have asked me why I am so upbeat about 2020 in spite of polls showing Trump down across the board.
1) The key factor in these polls are the Biden numbers, not the Trump numbers. Biden is maxed out, and might go down. Trump will win nearly all the "undecideds."2) You see Republican operatives on offense, and Democrats all on defense, in media interviews.3) The Law and Order issue is KILLING Democrats in the suburbs. And that term is relative. People who live in detached single-family homes in cities think of themselves as living in suburbs.4) Voters do not want to defund the police or give up guns, yet this is a central message Democrats, by remaining quiet on Antifa and even endorsing BLM, send.5) Democrats' focus on COVID is getting stale, and Biden's silly ads talking about a "national mask mandate" are beyond ridiculous now, let alone eight weeks from today.6) Their attempt to try and turn the riots and the "defund the police" issue, and support for the military, against Trump are just weird.7) The main "issues" Democrats talk about (besides hating Trump) are "income inequality", "climate change" and "racism." This just doesn't work with people outside the Bernie Sanders Kook Left wing of the party.8) No one knows what the Democrats are about other than supporting Socialism and opposing Trump.9) By doing this they make the election Socialism versus Trump. That's not a good scenario for Democrats.
Spot-on, Rick ... as usual.
You might have noticed over the last couple of days that the polls are even more skewed toward Biden than ever before.
This is the fake-it-til-you-make-it election for the Democrats, and frankly, what I'm concerned about is they're attempting to set up the fiction that Trump fixed the election to steal it because the results don't match up with these skewed polls they're running out there.
And that will be the predicate for some sort of coup attempt.
I would have said that was ridiculous a couple of months ago, but they're now actually talking about it. Which isn't good.
I noticed several "web panels" in the poll methodology, as well as "likely voters." Best to ignore those.
