Pelosi Admits House Can’t Pass Senate Obamacare Bill

It looks like Obamacare in its current form is dead. From AP:

WASHINGTON – Support for a White House-backed plan for salvaging the massive health care overhaul is eroding in the House as Democrats reeling from the loss of the Massachusetts Senate seat argue for a less ambitious approach.

The House leadership has made no decision on whether to press ahead with the Senate bill, but rank-and-file Democrats vented their frustration at a closed-door meeting Thursday. Emerging from the session, Rep. Michael Arcuri, D-N.Y., said: “The mega bills are dead. If we didn’t see what happened Tuesday night, we have blinkers on.”

Rep. Dennis Cardoza, D-Calif., said there was more support for refocusing on the health care changes with more popular appeal among American consumers. Republican Scott Brown captured the Massachusetts Senate seat, disrupting the Senate’s power to move quickly on health care.

And the American Spectator’s Phillip Klein tweets a quote from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: “I don’t see the votes for it at this time.”

  1. The State of the Union message should make for an interesting night.

Obama thinks that he is the Pied Piper and after he "speaks" everyone will fall in line. He still thinks that he is teaching where the teacher is always right regardless of the facts. Look for him to tell us how we don't understand the real problems that we face and that he has the plan, which he will leave to Congress to put meat on the bones, and we all need to just pull together and fall in line behind him….etc. etc. etc. You know the rest of the story…we have seen it several times over the past year and a half.

      • I think you're right, Ed, and that Obama is such a devout liberal ideologue that he is incapable of moving to the center where he might get something done. I think we're in for 3 (more) years of wheel-spinning in Washington.
