Although the F & F kids, this morning, are trying to paint last night as petty, nasty and divisive for the GOP, I found it revealing and very entertaining. According to Dana Perino, however, I, as a woman, should have been turned off by the boxing. I was not. In fact, I was relieved the candidates were willing to take the white gloves off. They’re all vieing for the same nomination, for Pete’s sake, so why shouldn’t they have? IMO, Reagan’s 11th Commandment doesn’t apply in this all-important primary season.
Moreover, I don’t believe that the vaunted Indies are as moderate and skittish as advertised. Is it naïve to think they like to see scrappy courage on display as much as any conservative? Is it equally naïve to think an honest conservative can defeat Obama? The 2010 elections say it’s not.
All in all, last night’s romp was riveting and fun and Anderson Cooper proved a pleasant surprise. What was really exciting, however, was that Perry finally showed up. Wow!
