It seems that Mitch Landrieu wants to become a part of the anti-Trump resistance. Landrieu sent out this email that was forwarded to The Hayride.
Friend,
We’re facing a new world. There’s no other way to put it.
Donald Trump is president, and we know he’ll try to move us backwards on everything we’ve fought for — public safety, affordable healthcare and housing, and protecting our environment. Now, it’s up to us to take the lead.
Luckily, New Orleans is up for the task. Our city is resilient. We take care of each other, and we fight through whatever we need to stay strong.
That’s why I’m emailing you today. I’ve started NOLA PAC, a leadership project that will support people and activities that keep New Orleans moving forward together. I’m going to be writing you to ask you to be part of the work on the latest issues I’m working on, because I want you with me as I fight for our city every day.
Show you’re committed to a strong New Orleans — stand with NOLA PAC today!
Look: Donald Trump has made it abundantly clear that he won’t fight for us. His proposed budget eliminates funding for some of the most critical programs that we depend on every day. It will make it harder for us to keep our city safe, harder to provide affordable housing to our residents, and harder to respond to climate change’s effect on New Orleans.
And, here in Louisiana, the legislative session started this month. We need to work harder than ever for our values and our progressive agenda. If you believe in New Orleans fighting back against this administration — and coming out stronger than ever — sign on to show you’re just as committed as I am.
Show your support for NOLA PAC today and show we can take Trump head on!
Together, we’re going to keep New Orleans moving forward — no matter what the folks in Washington and Baton Rouge try to do.
Thank you,
Mitch Landrieu
It would make sense if Landrieu had a clear path forward but he doesn’t. He’s term-limited as New Orleans mayor and will be leaving office in less than a year. Could Mitch be setting up a for statewide office? Who knows.
But Mitch is forming NOLA PAC and frankly, it appears to be a scam PAC. The next state elections are in 2019 and it’s unlikely Mitch will be a factor in those races. Besides what is the point of NOLA PAC, to funnel money to certain Democrats in the legislature and Cedric Richmond? To raise money for nationwide Democrats?
NOLA PAC is little more than a scam PAC designed to enrich Democrats and Landrieu allies. It’s not a serious venture.
