Earlier today on The Hayride, we asked the question whether White House terrorism advisor John Brennan or Vice President Joe Biden was the bigger goofball for ridiculous statements they had made last week. We weren’t sure which one of the duo looks dumber for having run his mouth into a ditch this morning, but now we’ve got a better idea.

Biden wins. He remains Champion Doofus in the Obama administration.

The convincer for Biden’s prize is newly-minted Massachusetts Republican Senator Scott Brown, who took issue with some of Biden’s smarmy statements over the weekend regarding what the law on military tribunals for enemy combatants is. Video of Biden’s comments is just below:

Brown, who has been in the Massachusetts National Guard and has a background in the JAG Corps as one of the top military defense attorneys in all of New England, wasn’t amused by Biden’s blathering. He told the POLITICO Biden’s comment was “insulting,” and proceeded to rake the Veep over the coals:

“He’s trying to give me a lesson on military law, and I didn’t think it was appropriate. And I thought he was off base when it comes to explaining to the American people that somehow I need a lesson on whether people get attorneys — of course they get attorneys. There’s a difference as to what type of attorney they’re going to get and when they’re going to get that attorney, and how are they treated, and what rights do they, in fact, get.”

“I’ve always felt that suspected terrorists should be tried in military tribunals and not civilian court, and as a matter of fact so do the majority of Americans. The big difference is are we going to pay $1,000 an hour for a private attorney and treat him as a civilian or ordinary criminal in a criminal court, or are we going give him a military attorney who’s going to be paid as a captain, major or lieutenant colonel, and obviously go through the military tribunal process?”

It becomes more and more obvious that the Obama administration doesn’t want any part of Scott Brown. He doesn’t suffer fools well and he won’t hesitate to speak truth to idiocy. And now Biden has irritated Brown, which will make him even more apt to deliver headline-grabbing rebukes of the nation’s goofiest Vice President.
