Rep. Jeff Landry, R-New Iberia, joined forces with 48 congressmen last Monday and filed an amicus brief that supports and expands a Virginia lawsuit that claims the national health care plan designed by President Obama and passed by Congress in 2010 is unconstitutional.
“President Obama and the liberal Congress violated the Constitution last year when they forced individuals to purchase health insurance,” Landry said in a printed statement. “Today we are asking the appeals court to uphold [Federal] Judge [Henry E.] Hudson’s ruling and declare the entire law, not just the individual mandate, unconstitutional. Our filing is an important step in reforming our health care system properly and preserving our personal liberties.”
