Attacks On Conservative Women

I know that I wasn’t supposed to start really writing here until after Thanksgiving, but since I rarely do what I’m told I thought that I would put a little something up before Turkey Day.

What prompted me to my keyboard this morning is the recent flap over Michele Bachmann’s appearance on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon”.

In case you haven’t heard, Bachmann was welcomed on the show by Roots, Fallon’s house band, playing a 1985 Fishbone song, “Lyin’ Ass Bitch.” The band leader, Ahmis “Questlove” Thompson is, of course, an Obama supporter.

While the hypocrisy of the left is nothing new –I have spent a lifetime hearing progressives preach about being nice to the ladies—the Fallon incident illustrates the kind of things conservative women must deal with when they enter the political arena. This is especially true for those who are brazen enough to run for the presidency.

Can you imagine something like this happening to Hillary Clinton? I can’t.

Attacks on Sarah Palin, who simply considered a presidential run in 2012, were monumental, but not exceptional. All conservative women who speak their minds are fair game to the left.

This video from The Culture and Media Institute is a couple of years old, but does a good job of chronicling some of the venom progressives spew at conservative members of the fairer sex. Sadly, things have gotten even worse since the video came out.

The most infamous segment comes from Fallon’s late-night compatriot David Letterman, who mused about Sarah Palin’s then 14 year-old daughter getting “knocked up” by Alex Rodriguez at a Yankee game. Once again, could you imagine that kind of comment being made about the daughter of a progressive woman –say, Michelle Obama?

While attacks from the left can sting, conservative women should know that there are millions of us who appreciate and respect them. We wouldn’t trade them for all the Rosie O’ Donnells and Rachel Maddows in the world, but that pretty much goes without saying.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, and I’ll see y’all on Monday.
