Will It Even Matter?

Most likely you have already seen the video touted by the late Andrew Breitbart back in February at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) as one that will help vet President Obama this election, “from his college days to show you why racial division and class warfare are central to what hope and change was sold in 2008.”

An edited version of the video was released two days ago by Buzzfeed and the unedited version was shown on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show last night.

In the video, shot in 1991, 30 year-old Barack Obama lauds radical academic Derrick Bell, also recently deceased, at a race rally at Harvard Law School. What had been edited out is Obama warmingly embracing Bell before turning the microphone over to him to speak.

Here is the unedited video, which was taken from a lecture at Harvard Law School by Professor Charles Ogletree, an Obama supporter, whom admits to hiding the tape during the 2008 presidential bid to help Obama:

The editors of Breitbart.com  say the video will damage Obama, because he was closer to Bell than he was to his former pastor Jeremiah Wright—the man whose church the president sat in for about two decades whom liked to refer to white people as ‘blue-eyed devils,” and bellowed “Goddamn America,” from the pulpit.

….Barack Obama was as close or closer to Derrick Bell than he ever was to Jeremiah Wright. Obama didn’t merely sit in the pews – or not — for Derrick Bell. He didn’t just hang out with Derrick Bell for prayers. He said:

“Open up your hearts and your minds to the words of Professor Derrick Bell.”

If we did, here’s what we’d be opening our hearts and minds to. This is a close associate of Jeremiah Wright, a man who was quoted by Jeremiah Wright regularly. This is a man who posited that the civil rights movement was too moderate because it accepted the status quo, and believed that the entire legal and constitutional system had to be transformed in radical fashion. This is a man so extreme that, as we’ve reported, he wrote a story in 1993 in which he posited that white Americans would sell black Americans into slavery to aliens to relieve the national debt, and that Jews would go along with it.

While the video adds to the narrative of Barack Obama as a race-politics wolf in post-racial sheep’s clothing, I don’t think it’s a smoking gun.

Those of us who have paid attention have known who Obama really is for a long time and many of his supporters have already dismissed his embracing of Wright’s black liberation theology bile as they will his embracing of Bell—the innovator of Critical Race Theory (CRT).

Some will even agree with Obama and Bell and see nothing wrong with any of this.

Critical Race Theory is racist tripe dressed up as an academic discipline that teaches the law should apply differently to people of different color. Put simply, it’s the exact opposite of the “colorblind society” taught by  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

CRT uses nonsensical stories such as “The Space Traders,” referenced by Brietbart.com above, to drive home points about how nasty white folks and Jews are and to re-enforce the notion of black people as perpetual victims.

In the book, space aliens buy black people from white slave merchants with Jews deciding not to intervene because it isn’t in their best interest. At least, that’s what I’ve heard the book is about. It isn’t exactly on the top of my reading list.

I’m sure that this will be an ongoing story and much more is bound to come out about this latest in the growing list of radicals that we have learned Obama has surrounded himself with during his life and, in this case, has been an advocate for.

Obama is associated with radical elements because he is a radical. Nothing new here.

I think what’s more interesting than Ogletree hiding this video is why he stopped hiding it.

I wasn’t sitting at his lecture when he showed the film, but I imagine he did so to let Harvard students know that they shouldn’t worry about Obama and that he’s still “one of us”, no matter what pretense he has to put on for the masses.

I think that’s true. Obama is nothing more than a product of extreme leftist academic thought.

Ogletree arrogantly states in the clip that he doesn’t care if the presidents detractors find the video now. He knows that the die has already been cast and Obama will never be held accountable by the Main-Stream-Media for his racist ties.

It’s fascinating to me how people believe that once you adorn base hatred with fancy language and all the trappings of academia, it becomes more acceptable and less dangerous. Not true, hate is still hate.

I wonder what would happen if someone were to produce a video of Mitt Romney or Rick Santorum hugging David Duke back in their college days and telling others to open their hearts and minds to his words? We all know the answer to that one.

I also wonder if any of this will matter to many Obama supporters? If they overlook this, as they have so many other things, it will tell us as much about them as it does the man they put in office.
