SARGE: Head-Slap

“Americans have the right and advantage of being armed – unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.” – James Madison

Illinois’ gun-control culture received a severe head-slap when a Federal Appeals Court rejected the ultra-restrictive refusal to issue any Concealed Weapons permits. This was a TOTAL BAN: NO exceptions to the law. And the Appeals Court saw the draconian effort to disarm and refuse Americans the right to self-determination through refusing to allow for self-protection was a denial of rights under the Second Amendment.

While this local matter has an impact on the national scene. Only Washington D.C. (a city with one of the WORST CRIME PROBLEMS in America) is the only locale left with a total ban in effect. Isn’t strange the seat of government now being seen as an enemy of its people by many dissatisfied and disenfranchised have tried assuring the citizenry may not be armed while in close proximity to the accused despots seeking greater, more encompassing controls?

Quite a coincidence don’t you think?

The Founding Fathers included the Second Amendment as a fundamental right of ALL peaceful citizens so they’d protect themselves against the cruel and sometimes violent actions of their neighbors. Indians were seen as enemies, The French, occasional mortal enemies of the British, inhabited massive areas of land bordering British/American colonies. Thieves and highwaymen plied their trade by preying upon the weak and unarmed. Our ancestors appreciated these facts because they’re immutable and will exist as long as man walks this earth.

The military can’t stop invaders immediately upon the point of surprise invasion; witness Pearl Harbor and the Trade Center on 9/11. Police can’t stop intruders, muggers, or stalkers from committing acts of violence against you. The police are defined by the Supreme Court as a reactive force required to assist on a prioritized basis. There is no right to protection for the individual: the police are accountable for the safety of society as a whole. That means if you’re being beaten to death and another guy’s being shot; he gets precedence. The authorities can pursue your assailant only after he’s hurt or killed you. It’s your responsibility to protect yourself from harm. But what if the assailant is the government itself?

Violent activity can be understood in terms of mortality as well as those acts of violence making you wish yourself dead like; rape, forcible incest, severe, deforming battery and dismemberment and other heinous acts. But in a societal sense there are crimes could be considered violent, deforming of our society and rapacious in the acts denuding a people from their right to self-determination and personal protection from harm.

Thomas Jefferson said: “The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that… it is their right and duty to be at all times armed.” Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Adams and most others, understood the severe violence could be exerted against a people by a despotic, autocratic and tyrannical incumbency seeking to ensure their dominance over their subjects. It was a reality these American statesman and representatives endured while modern man fails to see the threat as anything but theoretical and abstract.

It’s because they endured violation, because they risked their lives and fortunes to establish, codify and guarantee the rights of their fellows; we enjoy the right to protect ourselves from “enemies foreign and domestic”. It is the right of every American to protect himself and his neighbors from a government grown bloated, self-serving and demonstrably hostile to the rights of those they allege to serve.

In closing I’d ask you think of these two quotations. Both are easily arguable.

“When they took the 4th Amendment, I was quiet because I didn’t deal drugs. When they took the 6th Amendment, I was quiet because I am innocent. When they took the 2nd Amendment, I was quiet because I don’t own a gun. Now they have taken the 1st Amendment, and I can only be quiet.”
– Lyle Myhr

Then, there’s this reality to ponder: “Criminals obey “gun control” laws in the same manner politicians follow their oaths of office.”                                                                                                  Anonymous
