This video goes about 30 minutes, and it’s a speech Whittle gave on Tuesday at the Western Conservative Summit in Colorado.
You won’t find a much better articulation of what conservatives need in this day and age, or a better recognition of how to dispel the malaise which has inflicted the movement and the party in which it makes its home, than what’s in this speech.
Whittle’s theme is that conservatives can’t allow the Left to persist in claiming an unearned moral superiority any longer, because it’s that unearned moral superiority which has poisoned American political culture to the detriment of us all.
He uses as an example the Facebook exchange we picked up here at the Hayride last week between Whittle and some nosy leftist who invaded his page to talk down to him about a joke he’d made after being ranked third by Politichicks as the third-hottest conservative pundit in the country. Whittle annihilated said lefty for her trouble, and he did so by first demolishing her posturing as a morally superior being. He says that has to be the first step in any conservative argumentation in the future, because the public hasn’t been properly exposed to the ruin and failure that the Left’s policies create, as such.
Sure, folks can look at Detroit and see ruin and failure. But the pop culture and the media won’t do conservatives’ work for us and pin that on the Left’s policies. We have to do it, and we have to do a good job of it.
There’s a lot more in the speech. Watch the whole thing and be inspired.
