Guillory Debuts Free At Last PAC

You can call this an outgrowth of the @large conference if you like, but the star of this year’s event, Louisiana state senator Elbert Guillory, is now running a PAC aimed at finding and supporting black conservatives in politics.

Meet the FreeAtLast PAC. There’s a video…

Money quote: liberalism has all but destroyed the black community, and it’s time for the black community to return the favor.

The PAC, which has a D.C. address on it – and you can take that as an indication Guillory could be serious about a potential Senate run if you want – put out a release yesterday…

Elbert Guillory to Serve as Honorary Chairman

WASHINGTON DC – Elbert Guillory, a Louisiana State Senator who recently made national news with a YouTube video “Why I Am a Republican”, has announced today that he will serve as honorary chairman of the Free At Last PAC.

The Free at Last PAC was formed by several leaders as an effort to support Black Republicans who run for federal office and also to educate Blacks about the values of the Republican Party.

“I believe that the values of the Black community and the values of the Republican Party are one in the same,” said Elbert Guillory. “But somehow the Democrat Party has created the illusion that their agenda is what’s best for Black people, and we intend to shine the light of truth on that falsehood,” added Guillory.

“There are dozens of good solid Black Republican candidates out there seeking federal office,” said Derek Babcock, President of the Free At Last PAC. “We’re trying to create a resource for them so that they can compete. It’s time for more Black Republicans to be in Congress,” added Babcock.

The Free at Last PAC plans to continue using both traditional and new media, as well as grassroots campaigns, to reach out to Black Americans about Republican values.

“I recently attended the Republican Study Committee, as a guest of Chairman Scalise, and couldn’t help but realize that I was the only black person in the room,” said Guillory. “I thought, how can this be? What would Frederick Douglass think about this? We need to do something about this. We need more Black conservatives in Congress,” added Guillory.

Guillory’s web video now has over 800,000 views.  He recently gave a speech at the DC March for Jobs about the detrimental effects of amnesty on the Black community.

Something tells us there will be more organizations devoted to promoting conservatism in the black community making their debuts in the near future.
