The Chicken Ad

Brent Bozell’s 501(c)4 organization For America put out a web ad taking a poke at Mitch McConnell for his refusal to get on board the conservative plan to defund Obamacare. It’s one of the great efforts at shaming a politician we’ve ever seen.

Have a look…

The Karl Rove branch of the Republican Party is howling that the plan to defund Obamacare, which involves passing a continuing resolution funding everything BUT Obamacare and forcing Democrats to choose between shutting down the government and not going forward with a piece of legislation even Democrats say is a train wreck (and polls show that the public agrees), is a bad idea because the media will blame the GOP for a government shutdown.

The defeatism and cowardice of that is striking.

The authors of the plan to defund Obamacare have said over and over again that their aim is not to shut down the government.

In fact, they’re offering a plan to fund the government. Everything but the mangling of the health care system which, as passed, was unconstitutional. If the government is to be shut down, it will be Democrats who chose to shut it down.

But the Rove wing immediately predicts doom if conservatives pick this fight. Rather than that, why not work on ways to sell it to the public?

The answer could well be that the Rove wing of the party is a lot better at beating up on other Republicans than they are at beating up on the Left.

Well, if so then fair enough. Bozell proves two can play this game.

Is it so terrible to have this fight? No. This fight needs to be had. Particularly when the people the GOP depends on to win what elections it does win are saying fairly clearly that they want a more robust, more muscular, more articulate and more conservative party.
