Tales From The Congressional Parking Lot

Y’all know who Eleanor Holmes Norton is? She’s the District of Columbia’s “delegate” to Congress. She got famous for sayin’ some of the stupidest stuff about Ferguson you’ll ever hear.

She’s been that since the baseball team was called the Senators instead of the Nationals. Or almost that long. I dunno.

What I do know is she can’t park a car so well. And when I say she can’t park I’m not kiddin’. She can’t park. She can’t even come close to parking. I’m not sayin’ she can’t parallel park; parallel parkin”s not all that easy. I’m sayin’ she can’t angle-park. Angle-parkin’ is practically stupid-proof, and yet…well, just watch.

So Roll Call gets hold of the video and starts askin’ about all this, and the spin starts

Norton’s office disputes that anything untoward transpired.

“After the Congresswoman parked her car, we assessed the cars on either side to see if there was any damage. We could not find any,” a Norton aide assured HOH. “But we left a note with a business card so the congresswoman could be contacted in case we missed any.”

According to Team Norton, the congressional staffer who owns the truck that was boxed in by the septuagenarian pol reached out to her office about the videotaped scrape.

“The Congresswoman heard from the owner of the only car she was close enough to damage. The owner reported no damage,” a Norton spokesman said via email.
