New Orleans Teachers Are Now Getting Robbed At Gunpoint While At School

Armed robberies are so out-of-control in New Orleans that now the problem has trickled its way into the school system.

Two teachers were robbed at gunpoint shortly after arriving at the Mid-City charter school, Success Preparatory Academy in the 2000 block of Bienville Street early in the morning.

According to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), one of the teacher’s was getting ready to enter the school when an unknown male walked up to her, pulled out a gun and forced her inside the school.

After getting inside, the unidentified gunman robbed the teacher and a second teacher that noticed the incident occurring.

Neither of the teachers were injured, but NOPD Superintendent said the teachers and other employees at the school were “traumatized” by the incident.

The armed robbery comes just as multiple restaurants and bars have seen their businesses get robbed by gunmen who police are still searching for.

Armed robbery is the city’s fastest growing problem this year, along with it’s ever-growing murder rate.
