This past Saturday, St. John Bel had some robocalls going out in Baton Rouge. Those robocalls were made by former Congressman Cleo Fields.

In 1997, Cleo was videotaped accepting a payoff of $25,000-$30,000 from bribe money that Edwin Edwards got from former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo. Cleo was mysteriously never indicted by then U.S. Attorney Eddie Jordan.

If St. John Bel has all this integrity from West Point that he’s running around the state saying that he has, why won’t he repudiate this endorsement from Cleo Fields? In fact he not only got the endorsement from Cleo but he had him make robocalls for him.

Will St. John Bel demonstrate this integrity we hear so much about and repudiate Cleo Fields? Or is this “integrity” just a creation of his spinmaster?
