Three Shootings Overnight In New Orleans Within Just Three Hours, Including One At Lee Circle

Three shootings occurred in the middle of the night last night in New Orleans, two in Central City and one at Lee Circle, where a man was approached and apparently shot after a gunman asked for his property.

WWL-TV is reporting that three separate shootings occurred overnight in the city. Here are the details of the two Central City shootings that occurred:

According to NOPD, two shootings were reported within an hour of each other in the 1800 and 2400 blocks of Josephine Street. Police said a 33-year-old man took himself to the hospital after being shot around 2:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Josephine Street.

About an hour earlier, police said a woman was shot in the 1800 block of Josephine Street.

Around 1:25 a.m., police said the victim was walking in the 1800 block of Josephine Street when she was approached by an unknown male suspect armed with a silver colored handgun. The victim told police the suspect demanded her purse and she refused. After a brief struggle with the suspect, the victim said she noticed she had been shot.

The condition and the identity of the victims are unknown at this time.

Later, there was a armed robbery-turned-shooting at Lee Circle, where a man was shot after refusing to hand over his property. Here are the details:

Around 4:45 a.m., NOPD responded to reports of a shooting near St. Charles and Howard Avenues.

According to police, the victim is a man who is about 30 years old. Police said he was approached by an unknown man armed with a handgun. The suspect demanded the victim’s property, and when the victim refused, he was shot.

Police said the suspect fled the scene with the victim’s property.

According to police and the witness, three shots were fired. It is unclear how many shots hit the victim.
