Republican Party of Texas Invites Deaf Texans To Get Involved

Republican Party of Texas’ newly elected chair, James Dickey, is making changes to expand outreach to Deaf Texans at leadership meetings. In a recently released video, the chairman announced an American Sign Language interpreter will be on hand at the upcoming State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) meeting. Along with being available for the general meeting in person the interpreter will be part of the live stream on their Facebook or YouTube channel.

Three members of the SREC have close deaf family members who helped to highlight the need for both audio and visual communication.

“One of the first requests I received after becoming State Chairman was to work to arrange for interpreting for the Deaf at our meetings,” Dickey said. “I am excited that this can give more Texans an ability to participate and to see how hard the Republican Party is working to make life better for all.”

Any Texas Republican is welcome to attend in person and the group is working to increase its audience that watches the live streams or recordings.
