Calif. Gov. Promises Medicaid For Illegals, Sen. Cassidy Says No Way

Newly elected California Governor Gavin Newsom stated publicly this week that he would take steps to expand state healthcare for illegal immigrants.

The controversial remark came just hours after being sworn in as the 40th Governor of California.

Following his swearing in, Newsom posted his administration’s priority list which included expanding medi-cal, the state’s version of medicaid, to illegal immigrants ages 19 to 26.

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy responded that he will introduce legislation to block the improper use of taxpayer dollars.

The goal is for California to become “the first state in the nation to cover young undocumented adults through a state Medicaid program,”

It’s all part of Newsom’s agenda to offer “sanctuary to all who seek it.”

In his inaugural address Newsom said, “People’s lives, freedom, security, the water we drink, the air we breathe — they all hang in the balance.. The country is watching us. The world is waiting on us. The future depends on us. And we will seize this moment.”

Louisiana’s senior U.S Senator was quick to rain on the young Governor’s big-government parade, firing off in the following tweets:

Louisiana’s senior Senator appears to be conducting an all-out offensive on immigration, calling out the left’s continued hypocrisy on the subject. The following day, Cassidy called out freshman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for failing to see the threat at the border even after having an actual Nazi deported by ICE in her congressionl district.

The Senator also called out President Obama, for blaming border patrol for the death of a child being transported in extremely unsafe conditions.

As far as how to move forward with building the border wall, Cassidy proposes utilizing the more than $4 billion annually seized from drug cartels. Doing so he says, would make the wall be paid for by “the Mexican cartels and that is poetic justice.”
