OWEN, et al: “Gender Affirming Care” Affirms Nothing; It’s Mutilation of Minors

The world-wide leftist movement are masters at what is called “dialectic inversion.”  They take words that seem to be one thing, and overlay a meaning on them and then begin to proliferate the new definition of a seemingly harmless word or phrase.    The left around the globe has done this since the days of Marx and Lenin.  Other tyrants like Hitler, Stalin and Mao have done the same things, as have their minions.  They’re doing it right now with the seemingly harmless phrase “gender affirming care.”

Make no mistake:  “gender affirming care” is not “affirming,” nor is it “care.”   It’s barbaric and draconian.   The left uses this term in the context of parents, guardians and even medical professionals helping kids.  What they’re really supporting is using drugs, then surgery, to destroy the psyche, confidence, and bodies of young people.    It is, in fact, destructive and it only affirms one thing—that some are willing to permanently harm young people.

There are two elements to gender affirming care that need to be discussed:  (1) The use of experimental and life altering drugs on young bodies that are developing; and (2) Surgeries that might disfigure, dismember, and permanently change a natural order of humanity.

Representative Gabe Firment’s bill in the Louisiana Legislature seeks to do one thing:   Prevent the use of drugs and surgeries on children (citizens) under the age of eighteen in the State of Louisiana.  Firment does not seek to change the rights of grown persons to make their own decisions.    His bill sets up guardrails and is consistent with Louisiana values.   There are a litany of things the State would deny a parent to do to his or her child.

Representative Firment brilliantly offered up the rationale behind this ban in a House Committee, on the House floor and in a Senate committee.  He approached the proposed ban from a medical and human rights framework.   Those interested should listen to his words on why these procedures need to be outlawed in the State of Louisiana.   He calmly and with facts refuted every misstatement that can be crafted in response to this proposed law.

Firment got the bill out of the House committee with a bi-partisan majority, as he did on the House floor.   The bill was derailed in a Senate committee when four Democrats joined with a single Republican to end the progress of the bill.  The future of the legislation is in doubt this year.      The citizens of Louisiana are not in favor of the “care” Firment is trying to outlaw; the public is beginning to speak up in support of his efforts.

A recent statewide poll indicates a majority of Louisianans strongly support a ban on these terrible procedures.   Louisiana Public Broadcasting just this past week aired an interview with Dr. Az Hakeem, a British MD who explains the medical downsides to the procedures in question.  If you’re on the fence as to the efficacy or need or dangers associated with this “care”, it’s worth six minutes of your time to watch this video.
