Dear Shreveport: Reporters Wanting Dirt on Mike Johnson Are Coming

Are there any sightings of any leftist corporate-leftist media shills swarming Shreveport or Bossier City trying to dig up dirt on new Speaker of the House Mike Johnson?

Remain vigilant. They’ve booked their hotels. They’ve booked their flights and are coming through Shreveport Regional Airport…assuming they’re not in town already.

In the past few days alone, The New York Times, NBC News, ABC News, National Public Radio (NPR), Newsweek, The New Republic, The Huffington Post have pegged Johnson as homophobic. And far-right. And “extreme.” Not to mention a Christian nationalist and an election denier.

They’re even making an issue out of Johnson’s adopted black son.

Never mind the fact that these supposedly objective “journalists” are nothing more than liberal activists who threw journalism ethics out the window decades ago. Never mind the fact that these “journalists” would never disparage Nancy Pelosi by labeling her extreme or “far left” (which she is).

The corporate media always shows its ass and its anti-Christian bigotry whenever they profile an evangelical from the South. And this is one such occasion.

Members of the corporate media don’t know enough about Mike Johnson. And that’s why they’re about to invade Shreveport and Bossier City.

Don’t believe me?

Just look at how the media reacted when John McCain made Sarah Palin his vice-presidential candidate.

A SUBVERSIVE INDEED?

The media, who otherwise cared less about Barack Obama’s background, bragged that they sent armies of journalists to Alaska to shovel up any possible information, true or not, that could sully Palin’s reputation.

All this was widely reported 15 years ago, but the only corroboration I could find via Google was an old Mother Jones article.

“Alaska’s getting pretty crowded…with investigative reporters and scandal-chasers,” the magazine reported in 2008.

“Last night, at receptions, hotel bars, and restaurants, journalists covering the Gustav-delayed Republican convention were chewing on nothing but the Sarah Palin soap opera and discussing which reporters had been deployed to the northernmost state to dig for more dirt on John McCain’s not-so-vetted running-mate.”

One key difference is Palin didn’t make herself readily available to the press…whereas Johnson does.

My gut tells me that leftist corporate media hacks are coming to Shreveport and Bossier City, regardless. They’ll visit libraries and pour through old newspapers to look for Johnson’s supposedly dangerous quotes. Only two genders exist. Jesus Christ is Johnson’s Lord and Savior. That kind of thing.

Staff at the Gannett-owned Shreveport Times are no doubt slaving over their newspaper archives and assisting their corporate overlords in this endeavor.

Reporters will go to Captain Shreve High School, where Johnson graduated, to examine his old yearbooks. They’ll wave money around at anybody who might remember any mischief Johnson might have committed when he was 12.

They will target Johnson’s neighbors and members of his church to try to pump them for negative information.

Their final articles or televised reports will juxtapose all of the Southern Baptist churches against all of Shreveport-Bossier’s riverfront casinos and question whether the people who live there are hypocrites. They will find new and creative ways to smear, insult and ridicule Southerners. They will warn the rest of America that, under Mike Johnson, we are headed to a Taliban-style theocracy.

The Washington, D.C. lobbyists reportedly aren’t thrilled with Johnson, either. Vegas odds say they’ve dispatched private investigators to Shreveport to unearth possible blackmail material.

If you live in Shreveport or Bossier City, then please don’t cooperate with their hit pieces or their investigations. Kindly tell any reporters you encounter that you would appreciate them portraying North Louisiana — and Mike Johnson — in a positive light.

Then tell them you will pray for Johnson…and tell them you’ll pray for them too.

Everyone needs prayer, even — and perhaps especially — our wicked vulture partisan media.
