For the good of our country, I hope all members of the Congressional Republican Delegation will support Louisiana’s Mike Johnson for the critical role of Speaker of the US House, in a vote that will take place today. Conservatives, moderates, and liberals in the GOP need to come together in this moment.

I know Mike Johnson. I know he loves this country. I know he is called to service, and I know he is not driven by selfish ambition, or a desire to climb any ladder. The life of a US Congressman is very difficult, and Mike Johnson is in this arena for one reason—to serve our republic and our state.

Mike is intelligent. He is tempered. He is good-natured. He is thoughtful. He can stand firm when required. He makes peace if peace is a better option than war. His character is of the highest order. He is a family man. He is a man of deep faith.

Early in his tenure in Congress, he was a founding member of the “Civility Caucus.” Yes, he believes in civility, and he practices it every day.

I don’t know many members of the US Congress, but I know Mike Johnson. During this moment of worldwide crisis, and political division in our country, a person of great strength is essential. Mike Johnson will be able to work with all sides in Congress. He will be able to manage the business of the House of Representatives with skill and distinction.

If you pray, pray for our country. I believe Mike has been called for this moment in time. May God’s Hand and blessings be on our great nation.
