There have been more striking revelations than anywhere else this election season coming out of Louisiana Senate District 22 where the race for all intents and purposes is between proven conservative Blake Miguez and wrestler Hot Dog Hugh Andre.
We have covered a lot of crazy stories about this race from Andre intentionally burning dogs alive in a cane field to credible allegations along with photos of his Guatemalan foreign national agricultural workers being used by his campaign.
Those stories probably weren’t expected by Louisiana voters but one should come as no surprise to anyone who knows anything at all about Louisiana politics: trial lawyers have donated approximately $100,000 to Hugh Andre. The heavy hitter trial lawyers ponying up this $100k in cash donations come from New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Shreveport. Even Dinosaur Democrats like Ed Dunahoe of Natchitoches and Hunter Lundy of Lake Charles have their law firms ponying up $2,500 each.
Not to be outdone by the usual suspect trial lawyers, the Haik family of trial lawyers have paid up from locations all over the state, led by Judge Richard “Dickie” Haik himself who introduced Hugh Andre to the trial lawyer cabal. They held a secret meeting in Lake Charles back in August of 2023 and donations started pouring in.
