RADIO: So It’s Kamala Harris, Now? Not Impressed…

This morning I was on with Amy Jacobson and John Anthony (John was sitting in for Dan Proft) on Chicago’s Morning Answer show talking about the crazy events of the weekend, in which Joe Biden is now out and apparently Kamala Harris is now in as the Democrats’ nominee.

You can imagine how it went. None of us are particularly impressed with that move.

Which is not to say we’re all that unhappy with Biden’s ouster as the nominee. Biden shouldn’t have been on the ballot for the Democrats’ primaries – it was always ludicrous for that doddering old man to run for another four year term, and it was utterly shameful that the party cleared its field for him when Biden clearly lacked the vitality and cognitive health to serve currently, much less until January of 2029.

But Harris? Kackling Kamala?

Everything about this switch is a debacle.

First of all, as I noted in my opening comment (which you can hear right around the five-minute mark of the segment), Biden’s resignation as the nominee was done via a letter posted at his X account. It wasn’t done at a press conference, or a video statement, or via a phone conference call or even an interview with a reporter, or even a press release complete with a still photo.

They did this while proving neither Biden’s intent nor his life. Anybody could have written that letter.

Right now we know nothing about Biden’s health or even if he’s alive. And as I said, I’m not making an accusation. I’m just delivering the facts. Until Biden is seen and heard from on this issue, we’re being asked to take at face value the word of a cabal of people who have been openly gaslighting the American public for four years as to his fitness for the presidency.

And that cabal is furthermore pulling him from the ticket without getting him to resign from the presidency. Isn’t it harder to govern America than it is to run for the office? Why is he capable of doing the harder thing and not the easier one?

It should be further noted that these people cannot claim the benefit of the doubt.

It’s a good segment and it goes through some of the challenges the Democrats face, particularly with respect to credibility. They’re claiming that this move was a masterstroke which changes the electoral game; I’m not so sure and neither are John or Amy.
