You probably heard about the rather dramatic law-enforcement bonanza earlier this week which saw federal agents storm into the Louisiana Association of Chiefs of Police conference at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Baton Rouge to arrest a couple of the conventioneers, while also nabbing three others.
ICE was involved, as was the FBI. It caused a pretty big stir, and a lot of grumbling on social media about crooked small-town cops. And three police chiefs, including the current chiefs in Forest Hill and Oakdale as well as the former chief in Glenmora, were taken down, along with a ward marshal in Oakdale and a guy who owns a Subway sandwich shop in that town.
Yesterday, the acting US Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana, Alex Van Hook, had a press conference to talk about why.
(the action gets going around the 5-minute mark)
If you don’t have time to watch the whole press conference, here’s what this was about.
U-Visas.
What’s a U-Visa? It’s a visa the government will give to illegal aliens who are victims of crimes or witnesses to crimes, and their families, purportedly so that they can remain in the country to testify in court.
Congratulations for recognizing immediately how inevitable it would be that crooked politicians and public officials in a state like Louisiana would monetize that. It’s exactly what happened.
Arrested were…
– Oakdale Police Chief Chad Doyle
– Oakdale Ward 5 Marshal Mike “Freck” Slaney
– Forest Hill Police Chief Glynn Dixon
– Former Glenmora Police Chief Tebo Onishea
– Oakdale Subway restaurant owner Chandrakant Patel
That last name? The one who isn’t a cop? He’s the brains of the operation.
As Van Hook described in the press conference, the feds noticed a startling uptick in reports of armed robberies in these little towns in central Louisiana, and the victims were all “not from Louisiana,” as he euphemistically put it. Seeing as though the federal government pays people to analyze crime statistics looking for patterns, it wasn’t long before somebody somewhere said “Hey, this is weird.”
The point of living in Forest Hill is that you don’t have to be a victim of armed robbery. So when the illegal aliens of Forest Hill suddenly find themselves targeted by stick-up men, it begins to become suspicious.
And it didn’t take much investigation before the feds figured out that this guy Patel had the illegal aliens in these three towns paying him to turn around and bribe the cops into filing false police reports that they’d gotten knocked over.
As soon as the police report of the imaginary armed robbery goes into the file along with the witness statement, next up comes the U-visa application.
Patel was paying these cops five grand for each fake police report.
You discover things like this, and today’s Quote Of The Day from Trump spokesman Stephen Miller really begins to resonate, doesn’t it? Miller said “If you move the third world to the first world, eventually we become the third world, and that’s not good for us. It’s not a good thing for anybody who wants to live here in the future.”
This is such a crappy, Third World scheme that it’s just embarrassing.
I’m assuming Chandrakant Patel is a citizen. It would feel better if his name was Bob Smith or Claude Broussard. Typically if you have a Patel who owns a Subway, especially in a place like Oakdale, he’s a first or second generation legal immigrant.
So you bring legal immigrants in, and they promptly concoct crooked schemes to profit off scamming the system in favor of illegal immigrants.
Who will then latch on to Medicaid and food stamps and Section 8 housing and other welfare programs that are bankrupting the country, all the while depressing the wages of unskilled or low-skilled Americans.
This is the kind of rancid, lawless corruption you get in an India or Mexico. It’s literally why those are lousy countries people want to get away from.
Talk to people who’ve been to India, and one thing you get back again and again from them is the ubiquitous dishonesty of practically everyone there. Scam artists are everywhere, and if you’re a tourist they’ll literally mob you trying to sell you things or practice some scheme or other to get your money. It’s one reason there isn’t a lot of demand among Americans to travel there.
And India is one of the poorest places on earth because everything is so corrupt and the culture is so dysfunctional. People from India will tell you one of the reasons they wanted to get out of there so much was their disgust with that culture. Venezuelans will tell you that as well, and so will Nigerians, Indonesians, Filipinos and lots of others where it’s all the same thing.
It seems we’ve imported some of that culture here. Mix it with Louisiana culture, which sadly has it that if you’re a public official then by all means you should wet your beak at the trough, because who cares about some illegal who wants to buy himself a U-visa with a little white lie from the local-yokel cops, and you get this week’s shabby spectacle.
It’s the kind of scheme that makes you want to half-seriously advocate a public hanging for all of these idiots, just as a demonstration of how disgusting you find the whole thing.
It also makes you want to stop the Chandrakant Patels from being able to come here. Not because they’re Indian, or any race in particular; that isn’t the issue. The issue is that the culture of the entire Third World is poisonous and grotesque and corrupt, and ultimately unsuccessful. And we have enough trouble trying to preserve, much less reform, our own culture.
Louisiana can’t afford to introduce the values of the slums of Bangalore and Mumbai, or Matamoros and Medellin, into what’s already a value-deficient civil society.
That might be an ambitious ask, though. In the meantime, we’ll thank the feds for breaking up this moronic, depressing scheme and pray that if these guys get proven guilty they rot under the jail for a very, very long time.
