On Monday, August 25, the national “Only Citizens Vote” bus tour will stop at the Louisiana State Capitol at 11:00 am, bringing with it a clear message: the right to vote in our elections belongs to American citizens.
The Baton Rouge stop is part of a nationwide push to pass the SAVE Act, the voter integrity legislation that requires proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote. The bill has already cleared the U.S. House of Representatives but faces opposition from Senate Democrats who are working overtime to block it from coming to a vote.
As outlined in detail in this piece from The Federalist, https://thefederalist.com/2025/08/15/election-integrity-activists-hit-the-road-to-save-the-save-act/
non-citizens are voting due to lax federal standards on election integrity. The SAVE Act requires states to obtain proof of U.S. citizenship when registering voters, remove non-citizens from voter rolls, and verify voter rolls with federal databases to ensure only citizens can vote in federal elections.
Tea Party Patriots Action, partnering with the State Freedom Caucus Network and other groups, launched the “Only Citizens Vote” bus tour to help get the SAVE Act across the finish line. The message splashed across the side of the bus is simple: “Only Citizens Vote.” Multiple polls show more than 80 percent of Americans agree. This is common sense.
The Louisiana Freedom Caucus joins this call for Senate Republicans to bring up the SAVE Act and force Democrats to go on record backing non-citizen voting if they block it. Senator John Kennedy is an original co-sponsor of the bill. Our other senator, Bill Cassidy, remains silent on the issue of non-citizen voting.
With primaries looming, will Cassidy wear a faux conservative cloak or will he do something substantial like stand with his constituents and champion the SAVE Act?
Voters are watching.
The Baton Rouge stop on the tour will spotlight the urgency of this fight here at home and offer ways to help. We invite everyone to gather at the State Capitol at 11:00 a.m. on August 25th to send a message to Washington and to Cassidy: protect our elections. Protect our sovereignty. Protect the right of citizens—and only citizens—to choose America’s leaders.
