GET OUT THE VIOLINS: Today Is Planned Parenthood’s Last Day In Louisiana

Owing to the fact that abortions aren’t legal in Louisiana and giving chemical-castration drugs to kids isn’t either, Planned Parenthood de-facto admitted they don’t have anything else to do here.

And they’re closing up shop as a result. Today’s the last day Margaret Sanger’s eugenics organization, which was founded as a means of disposing of the disabled and certain ethnic minorities by killing babies in the womb, will be operational in our state.

For a long time, Planned Parenthood used to swear up and down that abortion was just a tiny little piece of what they did, and that they were about “women’s reproductive health.”

Then they started euphemizing abortion as “women’s reproductive health,” which was a bit hard to process since an abortion is an act directly contrary to reproduction.

Anyway, after the Dobbs case empowered states to make our own policies on abortion and Louisiana decided to ban that barbaric practice, all of a sudden Planned Parenthood just dried up and blew away.

Guess that tiny little piece of their business model wasn’t so tiny after all, was it?

So today is the last day, and as Planned Parenthood shrivels up and breathes its last in Louisiana, the director of Planned Parenthood of the Gulf Coast, a woman named Melaney A. Linton, blasted out this weepy email full of souvenirs from crazy-town…

Dear Friend,

Today is a deeply painful moment for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast (PPGC) and for Louisiana, as September 30 marks our final day of operations in the state. This is a heartbreaking reality—one driven not by lack of need or lack of community support, but by years of relentless and compounding attacks on our mission, our services, and our funding. Together, these escalating assaults have made it impossible for PPGC to continue operating sustainably in Louisiana.

“Assaults” defined as people praying outside of abortion clinics and the Legislature making it illegal to kill unborn children? Assaults like that?

Care pregnancy centers routinely get vandalized and set upon by left-wing crazies. Planned Parenthood has old ladies standing on the sidewalk with bibles, and sometimes they sing, and Miz Linton wants us to believe that this, and not the loss of that tiny little piece of their business model, makes it impossible for them to stay in business.

They claim they don’t even do abortions. But they refer people to abortion clinics. Now there are no more abortion clinics to refer people to and collect the referral fee and they’re closing up shop. Why deny this obvious fact?

Still, as I reflect on this moment, I am filled with gratitude. For more than 40 years, Planned Parenthood has delivered expert, compassionate sexual and reproductive health care to Louisianans—care that changed lives, saved lives, and helped people chart their own futures. Every single day our doors stayed open was a victory. Every patient we served mattered. And every step forward was made possible by your devotion, your generosity, and your belief in our mission.

A victory? Sure – a victory over the unborn kids Planned Parenthood slaughtered. Some victory.

This isn’t the outcome we envisioned, but it is not the end of this movement. Leaders and community stakeholders here in Louisiana continue to explore what it might look like to carry the mission forward in new ways. And while this next chapter will not be through PPGC, the fight for sexual and reproductive health and rights will continue.

“Sexual and reproductive health and rights.” Meaning free-for-all abortions and pediatric sex changes. That’s what she’s saying they’ll keep fighting for.

Well…

While our health centers will close today, Planned Parenthood Direct is now available to patients in Louisiana, offering convenient access to birth control, emergency contraception, and UTI treatment directly from your phone or computer. We’ve also compiled a robust Patient Resource Guide with information about other community providers across Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and beyond. You can find this guide at ppgulfcoast.org/LAresources.

On a personal note, Louisiana has always held a special place in my heart. I was born here, and I’ve long admired the strength, courage, and indomitable spirit of the people and culture of this state. It is that very spirit that gives me confidence this movement will endure. Planned Parenthood’s Louisiana presence began 41 years ago in a Magazine Street shotgun; we weathered storms—both literal and political—to become the trusted provider of choice for more than 17,000 patients a year. Through it all, the resilience of this community has been unmatched, and I remain in awe of the people who keep showing up for patients and for each other.

Resilience, huh? That’s a hell of a word to use when you’re killing babies and sterilizing confused kids. “Permanent damage” is a little more appropriate than “resilience” in that context.

But this is the end of the road for Planned Parenthood, and good riddance to them. Louisiana has a sizable number of care pregnancy centers run by people who actually give a damn about everyone involved, and they do fantastic work.

Here’s a list of them for those who might be in need or who might want to contribute to a very worthwhile mission…
